August 20, 2025
Nominations are now open for the twelfth annual Community Sports Dad of the Year award, proudly supported by Philips Water – a national program celebrating Australia’s unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support their local sporting teams.
With nominations open until Wednesday, 27 August via sportsdads.com.au, the prestigious award provides an opportunity to recognise dads who make a difference – just in time for Father’s Day on Sunday, 7 September. Whether it’s cheering from the sidelines, carpooling to games, coaching, or fundraising for new equipment, every little bit counts.
Last year’s Community Sports Dad of the Year was Nathan Butler, a dedicated father of three and long-time volunteer with the Blue Lake Soccer Club in Mount Gambier, SA. He was recognised for coaching multiple junior teams, running training sessions, marking pitches, and mentoring players – all while being a hands-on dad.
“I just love seeing kids enjoying their sport, improving, and being part of a team. It’s about giving them the chance to thrive – on and off the field,” Butler said.
This year’s winner will receive a Philips Water Station (valued at $1,299 RRP) and a $5,000 Rebel Sport voucher for their club. Plus, the person who nominates the winning dad will go into the draw to win a Philips Multigroom prize, just in time for Father’s Day.
To nominate, simply submit 100 words on why your local dad deserves to win via sportsdads.com.au. The winner will be notified prior to Father’s Day, Sunday, 7 September.
