Moments is the seventh studio album from local electronic pioneers Cut Copy, released via their own Cutters Records. It arrives five years after 2020's Freeze, Melt, following a period marked by Whitford's parenthood and a time of global upheaval.
Whitford sought to process these transformative years through euphoric, communal dance music. Electronic textures blend with synth-pop, trip-hop, and rock, inspired by the genre-melting spirit of early hip-hop, electro, and proto-house.
The resulting songs balance personal reflection with collective catharsis, exploring connection, resilience, and empathy across division, as on tracks like 'When This Is Over'. Elsewhere 'Belong To You' features American folk artist Kate Bollinger and pedal steel from Graham Lee of The Triffids. It's a collaborative album, designed to unite. As Whitford reflects, "Dance music is about connecting with one another after all."
