Live In Conversation: Spin Cycle

Who killed journalism?

Once upon a time we all read newspapers. Now the US president tells us that's fake news while Aunty Jean is talking chemtrails with great authority because Facebook told her so. So who killed journalism? Was it social media? The algorithm? The 24-hour news cycle? Clickbait? Sociopathic billionaires?

We're gathering the suspects, calling in the witnesses and attempting to solve the case live on air.

Join Spin Cycle hosts Jess Lilley, Rachel Withers and Charlie Lewis on Thursday 16 July in the Triple R Performance Space for Who Killed Journalism? It's an audio whodunnit where our guests bring their best theories and we work through the evidence together. Expect strong opinions, uncomfortable truths, and most likely more questions than answers.

Here to help crack the case are: Raf Epstein (774 ABC Melbourne), Antoun Issa (co-founder of Deepcut News) and Najma Sambul (freelance journalist and writer).

First Nations people can email firstnations@rrr.org.au to RSVP to attend.

ACCESS: If you extra access needs, please don't hesitate to contact the station at reception@rrr.org.au before the event.

For those unable to attend, you can still tune in to the conversation live via FM, digital, online or with the Triple R app.

This In-Conversation is sponsored by the .au domain - an Australian marker of trust online. It’s how you know you’re supporting local, on a global internet.
