Win 1/2 Arty ComicsMartin Bell is a friend of a friend. He works across drawing, collage and sculpture, and has exhibited at quite a few galleries out east. So, two new zines, 32 pages each, printed on newspaper stock that brings to mind trashy '80s comics. Which is apt, given the imagery he works with: cartoon heroes, cult movie stars, classic cars, DVD covers and even what appears to be a school report card.
Collage and drawing crash together loudly, as though participants in some kind of visual destruction derby. His work evokes Richard Prince, Bjorn Copeland and Jeff Koons. We also hear stories of his bedroom as a kid: walls covered in Mad Magazine posters, the floor littered with stacks of comics. You can get Marty's stuff at his website, but in the mean time you can try your luck at winning some.
