If bands were countries, Straight Arrows would be Afghanistan (and a little bit Costa Rica). At times sunny and beachy but mostly blown the xxx apart.

The Sydney four piece nail the bouncy and jiggy garage rock. Unlike the gazillion other bands who think by strapping guitars high on their striped-shirted chests makes them bonafide, Straight Arrows blow the pissy 'Lacoste rock' out of the water. How? By writing actual songs.

Their earlier releases had all the hallmarks of fast, thrashy and crude spewcore and, while their keenly awaited debut record It's Happening doesn't deviate too far from this winning approach, at times they slow things down a tad - even offereing up some touches of psych rock. Imagine if the Reatards and Rocky were in the same car pool.

The band has talent. And no matter what the music industry may be trying to tell you talent is still important.
