The Charlotte Duncan Award was established in 2009 in memory of our baby daughter, Charlotte Duncan, to raise funds for the neo-natal unit at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital. Donation to date is $971.

Entries for the Charlotte Duncan Award 2011 open on 1 December 2010 and close on 28 February 2011.
All shortlisted places will be notified and published on the Celapene Press website after 30 March 2011. The winner will be announced in June 2011.

Entry Guidelines
Entries are invited for the 2011 Charlotte Duncan Award for a short story for young readers aged 9-12 years. All profits from the Award will be donated to the neo-natal unit at the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital.
Entry Guidelines
1.
Entries (only hardcopy entries will be accepted) can be sent to:

Entries will be accepted between 1 December 2010 and 28 February 2011 (entries must be received by Celapene Press by this date).
3.
All shortlisted places will be notified and published on the Celapene Press website
(www.celapenepress.com.au) after 30 March 2011. Winners will be announced in June 2011 on the Celapene Press website.
4.
There is an entry fee of $9.90 per entry (includes GST). Cheques/Money orders must be made out to Celapene Press. Entries with cheques/money orders made out incorrectly will not be considered. Cheques only will be returned.
5.
Entries must be accompanied by the entry form. Your name MUST NOT appear on the story.
6.
Stories must not exceed 1500 words.
7.
Stories must be double spaced, 12 pt. Print on one (1) side of the page only. All pages must be numbered. Do not place entries in folders, plastic sleeves etc.
8.
Stories should be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
9.
There is no set theme however stories must not include horror or violent themes.
10.
The main character must be a child.
11.
Entries will not be returned. Please include a SSAE if you would like to receive a copy of the results.
12.
1st, 2nd, 3rd place, highly commended and commended entries will be published on the Celapene Press website (www.celapenepress.com.au) no later than one week after winners are announced. All shortlisted stories may be considered for publication in an anthology at a later date.
13.
Copyright of all entries remains with the creator.
14.
The following prizes may be awarded:
1st place - $75
2nd place - $50
3rd place - $25
Highly commended - Certificate
Commended - Certificate
15.
Celapene Press reserves the right not to award a prize/s if, in the opinion of the judge/s, stories do not meet the standard required.
16.
Judge: Paul Collins - Publisher - Ford Street Publishing. Paul is a publisher and writer and has over 140 short stories published. He has edited trade anthologies for Penguin, Hodder, Pearson and Harper Collins, as well as judging the Victorian Schools Magazines' YAWAs (Young Aussie Writers' Awards) and the Monash Children's Literary Awards.
