Jean-Claude Van Damme: Win a signed DVD pack

Action hero Jean Claude Van Damme has sent Australia video and audio messages warning them to clean out the unwanted movies from their DVD collections as part of ‘The Great DVD Amnesty’.

“Hi Australia, I am Jean Claude Van Damme and if you don’t clean up your DVD collection, I’ll kick your door down and I’ll be there,” warned JCVD in an audio message from Brussels. In the video, which was launched over the weekend, JCVD is shown packing his bags in preparation for a trip down-under to enforce the Amnesty.

Results from a survey conducted for The Great DVD Amnesty showed that 60 per cent of Australians are only watching up to 25 per cent of their DVD collections on a regular basis, leaving a whopping 75 per cent unwatched. Based on a collection of 100 DVDs, this means that families have approximately $1,500 worth of unwatched DVDs collecting dust.

The survey also found that 48 per cent of people have at least one DVD in their collection that has never been opened and watched.

The Great DVD Amnesty, which will run until the end of January, encourages people to clean out their collections, no questions asked, in return for a cash reward. Consumers will be offered $5 cash back on the unwanted DVDs that they send into the Amnesty.

The Great DVD Amnesty is a Sony Pictures Home Entertainment initiative. For full details on how to claim your $5 cash reward visit http://www.dvdamnesty.com.au where you will be greeted by JCVD, get access to behind-the-scenes footage and get your chance to ‘dob in’ a hoarder to Van Damme.
