5 x Boy DVDs, courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment/ Transmission
Win a copy of this hilarious and heartwarming story on DVD. Sweet as bro!

Earning praise and accolades when it was released in cinemas last year, the utterly charming feature from Oscar nominated New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi (Eagle Vs. Shark, Flight of the Conchords), Boy, also proved to be the highest grossing local film of all time in its home country.

Set in 1984, this magical film unfolds in New Zealand's coastal Waihau Bay. This is the domain of eleven-year-old Boy (James Rolleston), who lives on a farm with his grandma. When she leaves for a while, Boy's life is turned upside down by the unexpected appearance of his long absent father, Alamein (Taika Waititi also on acting duties). Having envisaged his dad as everything from a war hero to a rugby God, Boy must now contend with the reality of a low-end crim who is only in town to dig up a sack of loot that he buried years prior.

If you need any more incentive to see Boy, FILMINK gave the film a glowing review when it was released last year, labelling it "the comedy of the year, and without doubt the most moving."

For your chance to win a copy of Boy on DVD, simply tell us your favourite show or film to hail from New Zealand in recent times, and why you like it so much. Please include your name and postal address. Email competitions@filmink.com.au
