Jack Daniel’s are starting the New Year with their biggest announcement yet. MGMT are heading to the legendary Beach Hotel in iconic Byron Bay for their very own JD Summer Set show on Thursday, 3 March, 2011, with support from ¾’s of Tame Impala in the form of Pond!

Last year’s inaugural JD Summer Set with Franz Ferdinand in Byron Bay started a trend that the folk at Jack Daniel’s are intending to maintain in 2011 and beyond, with what is sure to be the summer’s gig road trip and one with a guaranteed “Electric Feel” courtesy of MGMT! A lifetime opportunity to get your mates together and get outta town for a full day of sun, sand, friends and music! Doors open at 6.00pm with an outdoor BBQ and DJs, so there’s no reason not to pack up and head to Byron.

This will be the second time MGMT have played a show in Byron Bay (Splendour in the Grass, 2009), and the band said “We couldn’t think of a better place to play our first show of 2011 in Australia than Byron Bay. It’s a beautiful part of the country, we have strong memories from our last visit and are excited to play an intimate show to begin our time down under.”
