Win a Kitchenaid mixer with your best cheesecake

This is not a competition for the lactose intolerant!

Just as you put the last Pesach dishes away, feed the final crumbs of matzah to the dog and get Mah Nishtanah out of your head, it is time to start thinking about the next festival.

In time for Shavuot, The AJN is on the lookout for the yummiest and hte most unusual, original cheesecake recipe. Entries are now open, with the prize: a brand new Kitchenaid mixer, courtesy of Kitchenique, Malvern.

Forget the stock-standard baked cheesecake. We are looking for innovation. Think fruit, chocolate, liqueurs and everything in between.

The AJN team will whittle down the entries to five. The five finalists will need to be available on the evening of May 26, a week before Shavuot, for our gala final at Caulfield Park Pavilion.

Each finalist will bring along a completed version of their cheesecake, which will be assessed by our expert and celebrity judging panel in front of a select audience.

The gala final and presentation will be followed by a wine and cheese cocktail party to celebrate The AJN‘s inaugural cheesecake of the year.

The, in time for Shavuot, the recipe will be published for all readers to try for themselves.

“Everyone always says their mother makes the best cheesecake, but now’s the time to put it to the taste test,” said AJN national editor Zeddy Lawrence.

“Of course, fathers and children can enter the competition as well, if they think they deserve to be crowned the big cheese.”

Entries for the great cheesecake challenge close on Monday, May 16. Tickets for the gala final will be available to the first 50 people who email cheesecake@jewishnews.net.au with “tickets” as the subject.

Entries should include full name, daytime phone number and email address and should be sent to cheesecake@jewishnews.net.au.

Terms & Conditions:

This competition is open to Australian residents only.
Employees of The Australian Jewish News and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
Competition entries close in Melbourne on Tuesday, May 16, 2011 at noon.
The finalists will be chosen at the AJN on Tuesday, May 16, 2011.
The finalists will be chosen, and then contacted by phone and/or email, using only the email address and phone number registered by the winner. The AJN cannot be held responsible for entrants failing to check their email or providing incorrect information. Winners’ names and details may be passed on to the promoter for winners to redeem prizes. Please note that the prizes are only those mentioned in the competition notice and are non-exchangeable. Winners’ names will not be published due to privacy concerns, however, winners’ names will be kept on record at The Australian Jewish News Melbourne office.

Unless otherwise notified, winners must must pick up their prize from the AJN offices, located at Level 1, 589 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick, Victoria or Level 1, 55 Grafton Street, Bondi Junction, NSW. NSW Permit Number: LTPM/08/00233
