Help Fight Childhood Diseases and You Could Win Up to $1000
Friday, 1 July 2011
Australian travel agents can help fund vital research into childhood diseases ā and put themselves in the running to win up to $1000 - every time they sell a Star Alliance fare product during July and August.
During the two-month period, whenever a travel agent sells any one of Star Allianceās 15 fare products - including Round World tickets, Circle fares or regional air passes - the Alliance will donate $100 to āJeans for Genesā, a major national fundraiser for the Childrenās Medical Research Institute (CMRI).
At the end of the incentive, the agency in each state that has raised the most funds will receive $50 for every ticket they sold (up to a maximum of $1000 in cash).
To take part in the Star Alliance āJeans for Genesā Travel Agent Incentive simply visit the āTravel Agents Onlyā section on the THAI website, download an entry form and start selling Star Allianceās fare products.
The new incentive is part of Star Allianceās ongoing support for the CMRI, an independent Australian organisation conducting genetic research to advance the prevention and treatment of childhood diseases.
This year one of CMRIās top PhD students will also be chosen as the 2011 recipient of the Star Alliance Scholarship, which provides a Round World ticket for the winner to attend global conferences or events that enhance his/her knowledge and research skills.
The winner of the Star Alliance Scholarship will be presented at the annual Jeans for Genes Gala Dinner on 9 September 2011 in Sydney.
Star Alliance Country Steering Committee Chair Alison Espley said the worldās leading airline network was honoured to be helping an Australian organisation undertaking world-class research.
āGlobally Star Alliance has for many years worked with organisations such as UNESCO, Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature to support a range of important environmental initiatives,ā Espley said.
āOn a local level weāre also pleased to be making a contribution through our ongoing support of CMRI and Jeans for Genes, while at the same time taking the opportunity to thank our retail partners for their wonderful support.ā
