An accomplished singer, harpsichordist and violinist Nannerl was Wolfgang’s elder by five years. Originally hailed as the family’s child prodigy, she was forced to live in her brother’s shadow, in line with the social conventions of the day that dictated composing to be beyond a woman’s feeble brain. A treat for music lovers and cinephiles alike, this beautifully shot movie (the filmmakers were allowed to film in Versailles) is further enhanced by stunning set design, costumes, and Marie-Jeanne Séréro lush musical score.
