What is common with the artist the Veronicas, Mirusia and Jordon Pollard (Ten Tenors)? They all are winners of the Christmas Star competition. Each year, one lucky entrant in the Christmas Star competition is given the oportunity to jumpstart their music career by performing on the Riverstage as part of the IGA Lord Mayor's Carols in the City. The audition date is Friday 4th November from 6-9pm. Auditions and callbacks will happen at Queen Street Mall Stage. At this you will be required to sing a song a cappella (ie without backing track or musicians) - this song can be any song of choice, either christmas or otherwise.
Winners of the first round will be asked to attend call backs the next day, Saturday 5th November starting at 3pm. For this you will need to perform a song with backing track that shows off your ability and what you could show us on the Riverstage. If possible, please be able to wear “performance” dress to the night time performance. This will be open to the public and will be in a concert format.
One winner will be chosen from this night to perform at the IGA Lord Mayor’s Carols in the City. Five finalists will be chosen to perform at house winners of the 4KQ Christmas Lights.

History
The Sunday Mail Christmas Star competition in its present format commenced 4 years ago, but Brisbane’s Lord Mayor’s Carols Talent Quest goes back much further than that.In fact, Brisbane’s annual carols event has birthed a number of well known Australian stars such as Rikki Lee Coulter, the Veronicas and Mirusia who now travels the world with Andre Rieu. Each of these had their start on Brisbane’s Riverstage as the new Christmas talent. Recent winners have included Jordan Pollard who has just concluded a successful second season (repeated by demand) of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Coat at QPAC Theatre and is currently touring the world with the Ten Tenors. Our winner for 2010 was the Dakota Stiplin.
Prize
Package includes singing at the Carols event, EP with Hammered Silver Recording Studio, hair and makeup for the performance.
