Purchase a Midori and win a trip to Rio TERMS & CONDITIONS1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
2. Entries are only open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter, Participating Off-Premise Venues (as defined below) and Participating On-Premise Venues (as defined below) and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter and/or claim. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.
3. Promotion commences 12.01am AEST Saturday 1 October 2011. Entries close 11.59pm AEDST Tuesday 3 January 2012 (āPromotional Periodā).
4. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrantās identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process including but not limited to tampering by way of use of techniques designed to avoid the payment of SMS costs. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
5. Incomplete, indecipherable, or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.
6. How to enter: 6.1 To be eligible to enter the prize draw individuals must, during the Promotional Period, either:
(a) purchase any one (1) specially marked 700mL, 500mL or any participating 2 x RTD 4 packs or 2L RTS pack of Midori from any participating bottle shop (āParticipating Off-Premise Venueā); OR
(b) purchase one (1) x Midori drink from any participating bar, pub or club (āParticipating On-Premise Venueā) and receive a scratch card, whilst stocks of scratch cards last.
7. To enter the prize draw, individuals must then, during the Promotional Period, either:
(a) enter via the Midori Australia Facebook āRio Carnivalā application entry box on the Facebook platform. Individuals can locate the āRio Carnivalā application entry button on the Midori Australia Facebook page (
www.facebook.com/midoriaustralia). Individuals must āLikeā the Midori Australia Facebook page, click on the āRio Carnivalā button and follow the link to the entry web page, input the requested details including the last 6 digits of the barcode found on participating Midori products or their 6 digit unique code found on their scratch card and submit the fully completed online entry; OR
(b) send an SMS to 1999-5005 containing their code (being the last 6 digits of the barcode found on participating Midori products or their 6 digit unique code found on their scratch card) their full name and postcode (in that order); or
(c) if individuals have a compatible smartphone they can either; (i) access the Midori Facebook page via
www.midoriaustralia.com.au/riocarnival which will redirect them to a compatible page for entry; or (ii) access the entry page directly via scanning a QR code on a piece of advertising material, where they must input the requested details .
8. Maximum cost of each SMS Entry is 55 cents (including GST). SMS Entry service provided by Prime Focus Enterprises Pty Ltd, ABN 55 427 571 651 (Prime Focus), SMS helpline: 1800 818 957. Entrants must have premium service access. SMS entries via the Internet are ineligible. Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the promotion database and NOT at the time of transmission by the entrant.
9. Major and Minor Prize Draw: 9.1 An electronic random prize draw will be conducted at Prime Focus, Suite 403/62 Beach Street, Port Melbourne VIC 3207 (Draw Location) by one of its representatives at 12.00pm AEDST on 4 January 2012 from all entries received from both Participating Off-Premise Venues and Participating On-Premise Venues during the Promotional Period (Prize Draw). Winners will be notified in writing within two (2) business days of the draw and Major Prize winners will be published in The Australian (first initial, surname and postcode) on 11 January 2012. SMS winners will be contacted by SMS and/or phone and the Promoter will record their address details so that the relevant prize may be awarded.
9.2 The first three (3) valid entries drawn from all entries received will each win the Major Prize as described below. The following one thousand (1,000) valid entries drawn from all entries received will win a Minor Prize as described below.
10. The following prizes will be awarded:a) Major Prize is valued at up to AUD$47,250.00 depending on point of dpearture. There are three (3) major prizes to be awarded which each include the following:
Trip for the winner and three (3) friends to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2012 Rio Carnival.
Each prize includes:
* Return economy class airfares from winnerās nearest capital city to Rio de Janeiro
* Brazil (including taxes) for four (4) people
* Private return airport transfers between airport/hotel in Rio with English speaking guide
* one (1) night pre and post four (4) star accommodation en route to the destination based on two (2) rooms, twin share (this could be in either Santiago, Buenos Aires or Dubai depending on where the winner lives and will be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion)

Available sizes are: Male sizes; 39/40; 41/42; 43/44; 45/46; and Female sizes; 35/36; 37/38; 39/40; 41/42.
There are 1,000 Minor Prizes to be awarded. The number of thongs available in each size is limited and will be allocated on a āfirst-come first-servedā basis while stock in each size lasts.
Available sizes are determined at time of redemption. The Promoter will not be held responsible if preferred size is unavailable at the time of prize claim.
11. The Major Prize must be taken to coincide with the Rio Carnival event which takes place from Wednesday 15 February 2012 and ends Saturday 25 February 2012. Prize is subject to booking and flight availability. In the event that Rio Carnival event in February 2012 is cancelled a suitable alternative will be sought which will be of equal or greater value to the winner.
12. The Major Prize winners (and his/her companions) must depart from and return to the same departure point and travel together.
13. It is the Major Prize winnersā (and his/her companions) responsibility to have a valid Australian passport and obtain a valid Brazilian Visa prior to travel dates. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any winner who does not have a valid passport or obtain a Brazilian Visa. Please visit

14. Frequent flyer points will not form part of the Major Prize. Major Prize is subject to the standard terms and conditions of individual prize and service providers. Winners may be required to present credit card at time of accommodation check in.
15. If for any reason a winner does not take the Major Prize or an element of the Major Prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the Major Prize or that element of the major prize will not be redeemable for cash.
16. In the event of war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion, subject to any written directions from a relevant regulatory authority.
17. Major Prizes must be claimed by no later than 05.00pm AEDST Wednesday 25 January 2012. A draw for any unclaimed Major Prize may take place at 12.00pm AEDST on Thursday 26 January 2012 at the same place as the original draw location, subject to any direction from a regulatory authority.
18. Minor Prizes must be claimed by no later than 5.00pm AEST on Tuesday 3 April 2012. A draw for any unclaimed Minor Prizes may take place at 12.00pm AEST on Wednesday 4 April 2012 at the same place as the original draw location, subject to any direction from a regulatory authority.
19. Winners will be notified in writing within two (2) business days of the draw and Major Prize winners (if any) will be published in The Australian (first initial, surname and postcode) on 31 January 2012.
20. General Multiple entries are permitted, subject to the following:
(a) only one (1) entry permitted per specified purchase requirement;
(b) each entry must be submitted separately and in accordance with entry requirements;
(c) only one (1) scratch card permitted per NSW resident per day in Participating On-Premise Venues;
(d) a maximum of five (5) scratch cards permitted per ACT resident per day in Participating On-Premise Venues; and
(e) each scratch card can only be used once to enter the draw.
21. Eligible Entrants who are not residence of South Australia may only win a maximum of one (1) Major Prize or Minor Prize in the promotion per household.
22. Entrants must retain their original purchase receipt(s) or scratch cards for all entries as proof of purchase. Failure to produce the proof of purchase for all entries when requested may, in the absolute discretion of the Promoter, result in invalidation of ALL of an entrantās entries and forfeiture of any right to a prize. Purchase receipt(s) must clearly specify the store of purchase and that the purchase was made during the Promotional Period but prior to entry.
23. The Promoterās decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
24. The Promoter encourages consumers to drink responsibly. Legal aged consumers are advised to consider the safe drinking levels recommended in the National Health & Medical Research Council Australian Alcohol Guidelines that are available at

25. If the Major Prize (or part of the Major Prize) or Minor Prize is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the Major Prize (or that part of the Major Prize) or Minor Prize with a Major Prize or Minor Prize, respectively to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
26. Total prize pool value is up to AUD$156,740.
27. Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
28. Entrants consent to the Promoter using the entrant's name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.
29. If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant/claimant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.

34. Printing and other quality control errors will not invalidate an otherwise valid prize claim. Unless otherwise due to fraud or ineligibility under these Terms and Conditions, all prize claims in excess of the advertised prize pool will be honoured.
