Are you a budding photographer?
The Cairns Post is challenging you to capture an edition of The Cairns Post in an image that reflects your lifestyle in Cairns.
The winner will receive a Canon 650D digital SLR camera and five runners up will receive 100 free 6x4 prints, thanks to Michael Aw, The Good Guys, Cairns.
The top 30 finalists will have their photographs on display at Festival HQ for the duration of the Cairns Festival 2012.

Terms and Conditions
By entering the Capture The Cairns Post “Promotion”, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open only to all residents of Far North Queensland (Cairns & surrounding area’s only). Must be able to show upon request proof of residency e.g. Drivers Licence.
2.2 Employees and their immediate families of The Cairns Post Pty Ltd and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether by natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin.
2.3 Entrants must be amateurs/beginner photographers only (not professionals).
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.
3.2 The competition commences on Wednesday, July 25 at 00.01 (AEST) and concludes on
Sunday, July 12 at 10.00 (AEST) ("the Competition Period")
3.3 In order to enter the competition entrants must visit
www.cairns.com.au/capturethecairnspost, fill in the online entry form & upload their photo entry. File sizes apply.
3.4 Each entrant who has entered the competition over the Competition Period and registered all details in accordance with the competition will be entered into the prize draws. Finalists will be selected by The Cairns Post head photographer take at The Cairns Post Pty Ltd, 22-24 Abbott Street, Cairns, Queensland, 4870, on Monday 13th August 2012. Winners will be selected by The Good Guys on August 17, 2012.
3.5 At times a third party promotional partner will be involved in the promotion. As part of the Terms & Conditions of entry you agree to receive promotional emails from the competition’s third party.
3.6 The prize winners will be notified by email/phone and their name/s will be published online at
www.cairns.com.au/capturethecairnspost.
3.7 The Promoter's decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
3.8 Entrants (including winners) in the competition may enter as many times as they like. On occasion entry will be limited to one entry per email address.
4. HOW TO WIN/CLAIM
4.1 Each entrant who has complied with clause 3 is eligible to win.
4.2 All entries will be judged by The Cairns Post on Monday, August 13th to decide the top 30 finalists.
4.3 The top 30 finalists will be exhibited at the Cairns Festival HQ from Friday, August 17th – Sunday, September 2nd.
4.4 The winner will be chosen by Michael Aw, The Good Guys Cairns on Friday, August 17th.
4.5 The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
4.6 The Cairns Post reserves the right to disqualify entrants at any time.
5. PRIZES
5.1 Prizes are not redeemable for cash and will be forfeited if unable to attend on the specified date. All prizes must be collected by Monday, February 18, 2013.
5.2 Prizes are to be collected from Michael Aw, The Good Guys Cairns during business hours 9am – 5pm. In the event that for any reason whatsoever a winner does not collect their prize by this date, then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner.
5.3 If the major prize winners are under the age of 18 they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
5.4 The Cairns Post reserves the right at its discretion to substitute an alternative or similar product of a comparable value and similar to the prize claimed.
5.5 All prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. In the event of that any prize item is unavailable; the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize item of equal or greater value. Any taxes (other than GST, if any) which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize are the sole responsibility of the winners.
5.6 In participating in the prizes, the winners agree to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the promotion, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The winners grant the promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
6. NO LIABILITY
6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter's ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to State Legislation.
6.2 The Cairns Post Pty Ltd and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail, which are not as a result of fault of the Promoter.
6.3 The Cairns Post Pty Ltd and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserve the right to take any action that may be available.
6.4 If, for any reason, this competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to State Legislation.
