Henry Purcell ( 1659-- !695 was the greatest English composer of the Baroque era and arguably the greatest English composer of all time, yet only the barest outline is known of his life and character.
On this CD 12 of his well known works are featured, ‘ Fairest Isle’ from King Arthur, also the Third Act Tune Hornpipe, several works from the Fairy Queen ’ Curtain Time’ from Timon of Athens, plus one number from The Indian Queen, and several other well known works.
