About as underground as Dark Days, the Brisbane Underground Film Festival promises to bring you everything slightly off-kilter, from the profane to the kitsch for this years festival.
Highlights include The Comedy, a film starring Eric Warheim and Tim Heidecker (Tim & Eric) and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), listlessly swanning around Williamsburg like privileged kids very much in the vain of what you’d expect from a film starring Tim & Eric. Zero Killed is a German/Austrian movie about murder fetishists enacting their fantasies (this will probably give you a firmer understanding of Michael Haneke), while The Colour Wheel is a film that strikes a chord with any girl who’s ever secretly fallen in love with her professor, only to realise it doesn’t work, so she enlists her brother to embark on a soul seeking road trip.
You Are What You Eat is a series of shorts based on all things mastication, introduced by Jack Sargeant. This program includes the short film, The Psychotic Odyssey of Richard Chase who drank blood and Baked Alaska – think roadkill dessert. Warning. Take an iron stomach. Head to BUFF for your underground fix.
