INTRODUCING THE CASTROL EDGE V8 PREDICTOR

The Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor is based on the 2013 V8 Supercar Championship, and is brought to you by the same people that produce the Castrol EDGE Grand Prix Predictor. The game is free to play and offers you the opportunity to predict the top 10 accumulated points scorers on each race weekend. You can compete against friends, and for prizes, throughout the year.
The game commences with the V8 event in Adelaide beginning on February 28 2013 and runs through to the final event in Sydney on 29 November (not including the non-championship round supporting the Australian Grand Prix). You will score points for your predictions at every race.
At the end of the year, the overall winner will win the ultimate V8 experience - a trip for two to the 2014 V8 race in Adelaide and a hot-lap of the track.
HOW TO PLAY
Registration
You must provide a unique team name for your account. Any names deemed inappropriate or offensive will not be allowed and one or more of your accounts may be withdrawn or disqualified from the game as a result.
All fields are mandatory and if you do not complete the registration form fully, you may not be able to create your user profile and will not be eligible to win prizes.
You may sign up as many teams as you like, however you can only register one per e-mail address.
Making your predictions
Playing the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor is easy. Simply predict the top 10 drivers of the upcoming event based on the amount of points they accumulate through that event's qualification and races, using the simple tool on the 'My Predictions' page.
Click on the image of the driver you want to choose from the driver list and drag and drop it into the box that denotes the position in which you think he will end the weekend based on the points he accumulates during that specific event.
You can also predict one of the drivers who starts from pole through the meeting, a driver that sets a fastest lap and one of the race winners. To select your driver simply scroll through the list of drivers for each category until you have found your chosen candidate. You can only score bonus points once per event for each of these extra options.
As with the top 10, you will score points based on these predictions.
Changing your predictions
If you are unhappy with any of your predictions, simply click the 'x' symbol next to the driver's image and he will be returned to the driver list.
Saving your predictions
Once you are happy with the predictions you have made, click the 'save' button at the bottom of the screen and your predictions will be set. If you change any predictions afterwards, you must press 'save' again in order for the changes to take effect.
You can make unlimited changes to your selection up until the deadline, at which time your predictions will be locked.
Non-submission of predictions
If you enter less than 10 drivers in your prediction for any event weekend, you will not score any points for the missing positions
If you fail to select a driver for pole position, fastest lap or race winner you will not be eligible to score. You will however be eligible to score for your top 10 predictions.
Once you have made a prediction, this will automatically become your prediction set for the full season, unless you change your predictions between event weekends.
Once you have registered your user profile, we will help you keep on top of your predictions by sending a helpful email reminder leading up to the deadline for each race. You can enable or disable these notifications via the My Account page.

PRIZES
Major Prize
This will be awarded to the player who scores the most points in the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor game across the whole season. The grand prize is a trip for the winner and a companion (aged 18 years or over) to attend the 2014 V8 event in Adelaide, flights, two nights accommodation, a hot-lap experience for the winner and spending money valued up to $4,800 (inc GST) depending on the winner's place of departure.
Race-by-Race prize
A prize will also be awarded to the player who tops every event during the season. The highest point scorer for each V8 event will receive a Castrol EDGE merchandise pack consisting of Castrol backpack, Castrol hoodie, T-shirt, Cap, water bottle, Keyring and Bar runner valued at $160.00 (inc GST).
SCORING
Points will be awarded as follows:
10 points - Correctly predicting the accumulated weekend performance position based on points scored.
5 points - Prediction one place away from actual performance position.
2 points - Prediction two places away from actual performance position.
0 points - Prediction more than two places away from actual performance position.
0 points - Failure to make a complete set of predictions.
Extra selections
Extra points can be scored under the following criteria*:
5 points - Correctly selecting a driver on pole position.
5 points - Correctly selecting a driver with a fastest 'race' lap.
5 points - Correctly selecting a race winner.
*Though it is possible for a driver to achieve these targets more than once over a weekend, the bonus points will only be awarded in the first instance of this occurrence during each event
Additional information
If two drivers end the weekend first equal with the same accumulated points score for the event, picking either driver as first will make you eligible for 10 points, with 5 being awarded if you picked either driver to finish second. The same principle would apply if the drivers you selected finished third and fourth equally and so on. This means that in the instance of two drivers winning an event and finishing second in the other during a double-header, the maximum a player can score for selecting these drivers first and second would be 15 points, regardless of which order they won their races in or how many laps they led, and in which order the player selected them.
In any other instances of a tie in accumulated points between drivers during an event, the driver with the higher finishing positions would be counted higher in the accumulated points for the event weekend total.
Driver changes
If a driver moves teams, or a new driver enters half-way through the season, the list of drivers will automatically be updated in the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor.
If a driver you have picked is declared unable to race once the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor deadline has passed, you will automatically be credited as having picked his replacement in the same car and will score any points scored by the replacement driver.
Changes to results
The race results used for the game will be the official race results published by V8 Supercars. Any disqualifications/time penalties issued within 12 hours of the end of the event will be taken into account and the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor scores amended accordingly.
Retrospective changes to official results imposed by judgements of appeal hearings or such will not be taken into account by the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor and player scores will not be amended.
Changes to qualifying results
In the event of any penalties or demotions regarding qualifying, pole position will be determined by whichever driver starts a race from first position on the official starting grid.
Tie-breaker
In the event that two or more players score an equal number of points from an event, the Bonus prize winner will be the entrant whose team has scored the highest number of points to that date in the overall league. If the tie occurs in the first round then entrant who registered a team first wins.
In the event of two or more players score an equal number of points in the overall game, the Major prize winner will determined based on the highest points-scorer in the final round, and then each round as required until the tie is broken.

DEADLINES
You can change your predictions up to and including 23:59 AEST each Friday prior to a race weekend. This excludes the Bathurst 1000 event where 'lockout' will be up to and including 23:59 on Thursday 10 October, 2013.
Any changes made after this time will not take effect until the following event weekend.

LEAGUES
You have the ability to create and join Leagues within the Castrol EDGE V8 Predictor. You can create private leagues, where you compete against your friends, and join global leagues.
Private Leagues
