Filmfans' favourite fortnight - MIFF - returns to transform Melbourne with a jam-packed selection of global cinematic delights. One of the oldest film festivals in the world and the leading festival in the country for cutting edge cinema, MIFF is a great way to be a part of Melbourne's events culture.
Screening 25 July - 11 August with films from over 50 countries whilst proudly profiling Australia's largest showcase of local filmmaking talent, MIFF transforms the heart of the city every winter.
Cannes highlights, critics' favourites, award winners, rare gems, emerging stars, cult classics, family-friendly and youth flicks - MIFF has something for everyone! Popular film programs returning for 2013 include international Panorama, Australian Showcase, Accent on Asia, Documentaries, Night Shift and Backbeat. This year's focus will also include an extra few surprises set to entertain, challenge and broaden your perspectives. Forever a supporter of short filmmaking, MIFF will celebrate its Shorts Awards ceremony on the second weekend of the festival with winning films eligible to enter the Academy Awards®.
But MIFF is about more than just watching films. Soak up the experience at the Festival Lounge to run shoulders with prolific filmmakers and be involved in discussions at Talking Pictures sessions.
