With its tagline of “You’re one of us now; prepared to be scared… again”, there’s no doubt producers of the Paranormal Activity franchise are out to out-do themselves. Even the film’s subtitle ‘The Marked Ones’ has a more ‘horror’ bent to it than the usual instalment number (this one would officially be 5).

Judging by the shorts we’ve seen, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is pretty spooky stuff. And freakish. And gory. In one scene, a main character pulls some weird black stringy stuff from his eye. Not sure what that’s all about but it does add a new element to the more common ‘things-that-go-bump-in-the-night’ scenarios the films have given us so far.

Now, Paranormal Activity fans and followers, if you happen to have a copy of the official Australian DVD release of the very first movie, check out the pull-quote on the sleeve and you’ll see that it has come from yours truly, Cream magazine. Yup, we gave the original flick our official stamp of approval way back when, but who’d have thought the producers would go on to make so many subsequent films?

Anyway, we’re ecstatic they have.

‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ is only at the movies January 23.
