THE Cambridge Hotel will be turned beautifully wild in September when Melbourne outfit Bonjah stop in Newcastle on September 20, on their 20-show tour across six states.
On their most extensive tour yet, Bonjah will play their latest album Beautiful Wild in full, as well as music from past albums Go Go Chaos and Live At The Corner.
Bonjah's distinct sound of "bluesey rock" and soulful lyrics have earned the group a loyal following.
Glenn Mossop, Regan Lethbridge, David Morgan and Dan Chisholm have been a band since 2006 when, armed with nothing but guitars and backpacks, the high school friends booked a one-way ticket from New Zealand to Melbourne.
Struggling to find a gig, they played on the streets, selling albums and living off Weet-Bix and canned peaches.
Eight years on, it is a different outlook for the popular band.
Now including Australian percussionist James Majernik, Bonjah have sold more than 25,000 records independently and have played gigs around the world.
They have made major festival appearances, including the Pyramid Rock Festival and Festival of the Sun, and been nominated for Apra and Rolling Stone music awards.
Beautiful Wild was released on April 18.
As well as Australia, they will tour to Europe, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
Tickets to see Bonjah at the Cambridge Hotel, available from bigtix.com.au, cost $18.10.
The Examiner has two double passes to give away to the show, which starts at 8pm.
To win a pass send your name and contact details in an email titled "Bonjah" to

Winners will be announced Wednesday, June 25.
