The Ancestral Spirit Digital Art Competition is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander arts practitioners who would love to get featured online. There are great prizes, so turn on your digital tools and start creating!
what to enter
This year’s theme is ‘Harbour and Foreshore’ so we encourage you to discover, engage and share your experiences on and around Sydney Harbour and Foreshore. You can enter anything audio and/or visual around this concept. It might be a digital photograph, montage, short film, soundtrack, animation, 3D graphic, digital painting or any other electronic work of art that we haven’t come across yet!
who can enter
The competition is open nationally to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders of all ages with two entry categories – under 23 and over 23 years of age.
how to enter
1. Save your work in low resolution or a compressed file format.
2. Fill out the online entry form and upload a photo of yourself and your artwork.
Files must be no more than 10mb. If your file size is greater, please email us at
ancestralspirit@beyondthewharf.com.au and we will guide you on submitting your entry.

The competition entrant must be the creator of the submitted work.
All entries must be original, produced solely for this competition and / or have not been previously publicised or used commercially.
Personal details collected on this entry form will only be used for the purposes of this competition and related promotion.
Entries that infringe existing copyrights or include trademarked images or themes will not be accepted.
Photo submissions must have the written permission from all people appearing in the Digital Artwork or in the video clip before a Digital Art piece or video can be submitted.
The Ancestral Spirit Digital Arts Competition will be judged by employees of Harbour City Ferries and Balarinji.Decisions on shortlisted artists and winning entries are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prizes are split into two categories – under 23 and over 23 years of age. Each winning entrant will be awarded cash and workshops to the value of $1000.
Harbour City Ferries decision is final (including in relation to its attempts to contact any winner) and no correspondence will be entered into, including in the event of a dispute.
Harbour City Ferries reserves the right to decline entries for the following reasons:
We determine that your work contains elements created and/or owned by someone other than the entrant.
We determine that the work infringes the intellectual property rights of third parties.
We determine that the work is offensive or obscene.
Harbour City Ferries reserves the right to edit captions that are over 25 words or that have grammatical or spelling errors.
Shortlisted entrants agree to having their work, portrait, title of work and description, published online for the duration of the competition.
Winning entrants agree to having their work, portrait, title of work and description, published online for the duration of the competition and used in Harbour City Ferries promotional activity.
Winners will be notified by email on the 3rd June 2015.
