This year’s feast of Israeli cinema (September 5 -17th ) is on the move in Melbourne back to the south side, showing at the Village Rivoli and the Alex Theatre, St Kilda. In Sydney the Ritz Cinema is the host again.
The 16-film program includes a host of Australian premieres and some treasures from the past. Special guests include Brigadier General Gal Hirsch with his documentary War Story. There will also be a tribute to actress Ronit Elkabetz in two of her best roles. She is part of a strong female presence this year, including a new section,Women of Israel, focussing on films about women’s issues.
Sydney’s Opening Night will be on 5 September at Ritz Cinema in Randwick, while Melbourne’s will be on 6 September at Village Rivoli. Both nights will feature the premiere of Home Port.
