A sweeping romantic historical drama, NEVER LOOK AWAY follows thirty years in the life of a great artist – loosely based on Gerhard Richter, one of the 20th century’s most admired visual artists – played by Tom Schilling (Woman in Gold, Generation War). Written and directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who won an Oscar for his masterful “The Lives of Others” (2006), is a meditation on art, memory and meaning is yet another deep-dive into the postwar psyche of the filmmaker’s native Germany. It’s incredibly powerful and one of the best films we’ve ever seen.
