WIN – Tickets to the Exclusive Premiere of ‘Father Stu’ Starring Mark Wahlberg
Mark Wahlberg stars in Father Stu, an uplifting drama based on the true story of boxer-turned-priest Stuart Long’s inspiring journey to redemption.

All this week, 96five is giving you the chance to attend the exclusive premiere screening of Father Stu, thanks to Sony Pictures.

To win tickets to the premiere, listen this week for that cue to call, or fill in the form below with your details.  The premiere is at Event Cinemas Garden City on Tuesday May 3 (arrive 6pm for a 6:30pm start).

Based on a true story, Father Stu is an unflinchingly honest, funny and ultimately uplifting drama about a lost soul who finds his purpose in a most unexpected place.

When an injury ends his amateur boxing career, Stuart Long (Mark Wahlberg) moves to L.A. dreaming of stardom. While scraping by as a supermarket clerk, he meets Carmen (Teresa Ruiz), a Catholic Sunday school teacher who seems immune to his bad-boy charm.

Determined to win her over, the longtime agnostic starts going to church to impress her. But surviving a terrible motorcycle accident leaves him wondering if he can use his second chance to help others find their way, leading to the surprising realisation that he is meant to be a Catholic priest.

Despite a devastating health crisis and the skepticism of Church officials and his estranged parents (Mel Gibson and Jacki Weaver), Stu pursues his vocation with courage and compassion, inspiring not only those closest to him but countless others along the way.

Father Stuart Long was ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Helena in Montana by Bishop George Thomas, who said “Father Stu is raw and unfiltered, combative and grace-filled, and witnesses to the truth that no one is beyond the reach of redemption.”

Mel Gibson stars alongside Mark Wahlberg and Jackie Weaver in Father Stu (supplied).

Bishop Austin Vetter is the current Bishop of Helena said that Father Stuart Long’s witness has left a special legacy in the Diocese.

“Father Long’s dramatic conversion to Christ before becoming a priest led many people to faith.  Although the film contains language, violence and adult themes, it’s our hope that the redemptive story of his conversion will invite viewers to faith and strengthen believers.”

Father Stu stars Academy Award Nominee® Mark Wahlberg (Best Supporting Actor, The Departed, 2006) as Father Stu, along with Academy Award Winner® Mel Gibson (Best Director, Braveheart, 1995), Academy Award Nominee® Jacki Weaver (Best Supporting Actor, Silver Linings Playbook, 2012) and Teresa Ruiz (Narcos).

Father Stu is in cinemas May 12.
