A key ingredient in classic cocktails like the Original Margarita and the Cosmopolitan, Cointreau is an essential addition to any home bar this summer. Distilled in France with a combination of sweet and bitter orange peel to produce a crystal-clear spirit, it possesses a unique complexity that is perfect for enhancing the vibrancy of cocktails.
The Original Margarita:
Ingredients:
30ml Cointreau
30ml Blanco Tequila
30ml Fresh Lime Juice
Method:
Make a salt rim on your glass
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice
Shake vigorously until well chilled
Strain into a Margarita glass
Garnish with a lime wheel
The Berry Margarita:
Ingredients:
30ml Cointreau
45ml Blanco Tequila
20ml Fresh Lime Juice
4 Fresh Blackberries
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
Add ice and shake until well-chilled
Strain into a chilled Old Fashioned glass
Garnish with a blackberry
The Spicy Margarita
Ingredients:
30mL Cointreau
30mL Blanco Tequila
30mL Fresh Lime Juice
2 slices Jalapeño, plus extra for garnish
Method:
Make a salt rim on your glass
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake well until well-chilled.
Strain into a chilled Old Fashioned glass.
Garnish with a jalapeño pepper.
