The annual Brisbane Writers Festival is just around the corner, with a city-wide celebration of 150 live events showcasing more than 60 authors taking place from May 10–14. As Brisbane’s seminal literary event, the festival is full of engaging storytelling and celebrations of the written word. This year’s program features a star-studded line-up of local and international authors, enlightening audiences through panel discussions, author talks, workshops and all-new Literary Salons. Expect to hear from renowned Australian voices such as Trent Dalton, Grace Tame, Stan Grant, Tim Winton, Kate Morton and more, alongside international heavyweights including Scottish novelist Irvine Welsh and Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka.
Among the veritable smorgasbord of events, you can witness rising writerly stars go head to head with Literary Death Match, indulge in a delightful Mother’s Day high tea with Holly Wainwright, discover the sinister world of Cursed Bunny in conversation with Bora Chung and celebrate 30 years of Trainspotting with Irvine Welsh. There are events for all lovers of the written word, from pre-school-aged children to well-read adults – but trust us, even the most unenthusiastic readers will find something they love!
