One of Mozart’s most beloved operas, Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), recently returned to the Metropolitan Opera to conclude it’s 2022-23 season. The opera, filmed live in HD on the Met stage, will play in select Australian cinemas from Saturday 19 August. Receiving a fantastical interpretation in a new staging from English actor and director Simon McBurney, the production takes an inventive approach to Mozart’s operatic fable with a magical display of theatrical improvisation including live projections and sound effects, as well as aerial stunts, physical comedy and acrobatics.
