This month we’re delighted to be giving away not one but two amazing treasures in our newest competition, the Harlequin and Columbine beads.
Inspired by Commedia Dell'Arte, a type of Italian improvisational theatre that developed in the sixteenth century, these beads are all about charm, play, passion, and the spectacle of carnival.
Harlequin, one of the principal stock characters of Commedia Dell’Arte was a light-hearted and astute servant, and fanciful suitor of the serving maid, Columbine.
Designed by Paula Radke, these remarkable glass beads were created using a dichroic process, allowing them to change colours when viewed from different angles and under different lighting conditions.
These lustrous beads were retired from our collection all the way back in 2004, and now one lucky Trollfriend will get the chance to take them both home!
