Win one of ten double passes to the British Film Festival at Palace Cinemas
The British Film Festival will take over the Palace Barracks and Palace James Street from November 2–29. This year’s stellar program will deliver an array of dramas, comedies, true stories and documentaries featuring several of Britain’s finest acting and filmmaking talents including Anthony Hopkins, Timothy Spall, Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter, Ian McKellen, Helen Mirren, Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson in her final film. Trust us when we say you won’t want to miss out on this year’s exceptional movie line-up.
Opening the festival is the Australian premiere of One Life starring Sir Anthony Hopkins arriving direct from its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Based on a deeply moving true story of kindness and compassion that was almost forgotten for 50 years, Hopkins delivers a remarkable performance as Sir Nicholas Winton, also known as the “British Schindler”, who helped rescue hundreds of children from Europe on the verge of World War II. The film also stars Lena Olin, Romola Garai, Alex Sharp, Jonathan Pryce, and Helena Bonham Carter in supporting roles.
One Life is followed by a dazzling line-up of film such as My Name is Alfred Hitchcock, a new documentary that takes a deep dive into cinema history, the Australian premiere of Ken Loach’s new film The Old Oak and Pretty Red Dress by writer-director Dionne Edwards featuring the music of Tina Turner and many more.
