Palace Opera & Ballet is delighted to present La Scala’s official season opening gala performance, the most prestigious and anticipated annual event of the Italian musical calendar.
This year, LluÃs Pasqual and maestro Riccardo Chailly bring Verdi and Schiller’s captivating story of political intrigue, love and betrayal to the stage in a brand new production, featuring a suberb luxury cast.
The opera revolves around the titular 16th-century crown prince of Spain (Francesco Meli), and his relationships with his father King Philip II (René Pape), his stepmother Queen Elisabeth of Valois (Anna Netrebko), and his close friend Rodrigo, Marquis of Posa (Luca Salsi).
