Brisbane Libraries – Summer Reading Book Voucher Competiton

How to enter: To enter the competition, entrants must:
(a) register for the Summer Reading Challenge, either:
i. online at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/libraries; or
ii. in person at:
A. one of the 33 Brisbane City Council library branches/locations (Branch Library); or
B. the Brisbane City Council Mobile Library (Mobile Library); or
C. the Brisbane City Council Pop-up Library (Pop-up Library),
(each a Participating Library, and collectively the Participating Libraries); and
(b) collect a Summer Reading Challenge booklet (Challenge Booklet) at a Participating Library; and
(c) attend a Participating Library to have the entrant’s library card scanned by a Participating Library employee; and
(d) perform any one or all of the following actions:
i. complete a weekly challenge from the Challenge Booklet;
ii. complete a milestone in the reading tracker in the Challenge Booklet;
iii. borrow from a Participating Library or the BNELibraries app; or
iv. attend an event at a Participating Library.

Terms and Conditions:

1. These terms and conditions set out all of the information regarding the 2025-2026 Brisbane Libraries - Summer Reading Book Voucher Competition (the Terms and Conditions).
2. The Promoter of this competition is Brisbane City Council ABN 72 002 765 795, acting through its Library Services branch, whose principal offices are at Brisbane Square, 266 George Street, Brisbane (the Promoter).
3. Information on how to enter this competition, as contained on the Promoter’s website or in other materials published by the Promoter, forms part of these Terms and Conditions. To the extent of any inconsistency or conflict, these Terms and Conditions will take precedence.
4. Competition entry is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
5. Prizes: each prize consists of one (1) $50 voucher for a bookstore of the Promoter’s choosing (each a Prize). There are seven (7) Prizes available to be won each week for the duration of the program. A total of 63 Prizes will be available to be won over the 9-week duration of the competition.
The Prize is not exchangeable or transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. If the full amount of the Prize is not redeemed, the unused balance will be forfeited. Any additional expenses incurred by the Prize winner, other than those outlined in these Terms and Conditions, are the responsibility of the Prize winner.
Prizes are themselves subject to the specific terms and conditions of the Prize provider.
6. No assignment: Prizes must be redeemed by the relevant Prize winner. The Prize winner may not assign or otherwise transfer the benefit of the Prize to another person.
7. The competition period: This competition will open at 9:00am AEST Monday 1 December 2025 and close at 11:59pm AEST Saturday 31 January 2026.
Entries will only be accepted during this time.
8. How to enter: To enter the competition, entrants must:
(a) register for the Summer Reading Challenge, either:
i. online at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/libraries; or
ii. in person at:
A. one of the 33 Brisbane City Council library branches/locations (Branch Library); or
B. the Brisbane City Council Mobile Library (Mobile Library); or
C. the Brisbane City Council Pop-up Library (Pop-up Library),
(each a Participating Library, and collectively the Participating Libraries); and

9. Contact details: The contact details noted against the entrant’s library card will be used to contact the entrant in the event that library card remain current.
10. Entries: For each entrant:
(a) the completion of one (1) weekly challenge will equate to one (1) competition entry. There are a total of nine (9) challenges over the duration of the competition, totalling a possible nine (9) competition entries. Challenge competition entries are ‘submitted’ by the relevant challenge being stamped in the entrant’s Challenge Booklet by a Participating Library employee. Entrants can choose to submit their entries all at once or space them out, noting that the Prize draw will refresh each week;
(b) the completion of one (1) milestone in the reading tracker will equate to one (1) competition entry. There are a total of thirty-three (33) milestones over the duration of the competition, totalling a possible thirty-three (33) competition entries. Milestone competition entries are ‘submitted’ by the relevant milestone being stamped in the entrant’s Challenge Booklet by a Participating Library employee. Entrants can choose to submit the entries all at once or space them out, noting that the prize draw will refresh each week;
(c) the borrowing of items from a Participating Library will equate to one (1) competition entry. Entrants can gain a maximum of one (1) entry from borrowing per day; and
(d) the attendance at one (1) event hosted by a Participating Library will equate to one (1) competition entry. Entrants can gain a competition entry for as many events that they attend.
11. Eligibility: To be eligible to enter this competition, a person must:
(a) not be an employee or contracted staff of the Promoter; and
(b) have a current Brisbane City Council Library Membership (including a Digital Library Membership).
12. Competition Draws: The Prize winners will be drawn by an officer of the Promoter by randomly selecting seven (7) eligible competition entries. The weekly Prize draw will take place each Monday (for the preceding week) after the commencement of the Summer Reading Challenge.
13. Winner Notification: The Prize winners will be notified by email or phone call, by an officer of the Promoter by 5:00pm AEST on the subsequent Tuesday to each Prize draw.
14. Prize claim: To claim the Prize, the winner must notify the relevant officer of the Promoter of the winner’s preferred Participating Library to collect their Prize. The Prize must be claimed by 5:00pm AEST on the date falling two (2) weeks after the Promoter’s officer notifies the winner about the prize (Prize Claim Date).
15. Re-Draw: If a winner does not claim the Prize by the respective Prize Claim Date, that winner (as originally drawn) will cease to be the winner and will not be entitled to claim the Prize.
16. The Promoter will be entitled to draw a new winner and provide a period of time for that new winner to claim the Prize. If that new winner fails to claim the Prize in the applicable period of time, that new winner will cease to be the winner and will not be entitled to claim the Prize. This redraw process may continue to apply on any number of occasions (at the discretion of the Promoter), until such time as the Prize is claimed by a winner within the applicable period, or the Promoter decides, in its absolute discretion, not to re-draw the Prize.
17. The Promoter, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to not award the Prize to any entrant, including, without limitation, if the Prize is not claimed by the Prize Claim Date or any subsequent period provided for a new winner to claim the Prize, or the Promoter decides, in its absolute discretion, not to re-draw the Prize.
18. No Liability of Promoter: The Promoter accepts no responsibility whatsoever for late, misplaced, lost or ineligible entries. The Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality, suitability or merchantability of the Prize. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for:
(a) any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to direct, indirect loss, economic loss, special loss or consequential loss which includes but is not limited to loss of actual or anticipated profit, loss of goodwill, loss of reputation, loss of opportunity, loss of savings and/or loss of contract); or (b) without limiting paragraph (a), any personal injury or death or loss of, or damage to, property in connection with entry into the competition or acceptance of the Prize,
howsoever such liability arises and whether arising in tort (including without limitation in negligence), for breach of contract (including without limitation under any indemnity), under statute, in equity or otherwise.
19. To the extent all or any part of condition 18 is found to be contrary to the Australian Consumer Law, but the Australian Consumer Law otherwise permits the Promoter to limit the Promoter’s liability to the value of the Prize or the resupply of the Prize, then the liability of the Promoter is instead limited, at the Promoter’s election, to either the value of the Prize or the resupply of the Prize.
20. Important – Privacy Consent: By entering this competition, the entrant (or where the entrant is under the age of 18, the entrant’s parent or guardian on the entrant’s behalf) acknowledges and consents to their personal information, including their name, email and phone number being collected and stored on the Promoter’s database in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy policy for the purpose of this competition.
21. Force Majeure: If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned (including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter), which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify all entries from any individual(s) who tampers with, or benefits from tampering with, the entry process which as a result corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the competition.
22. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, or strikes, the Promoter may in its absolute
discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions (with necessary amendments to key dates).
23. The Promoter does not claim responsibility for any changes to the competition including change in location, rescheduling or cancellation.
24. The Promoter reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time and to cancel or amend the competition at any time without notice or further recourse to the entrants.
