In the near future, a team of scientists prepares to test a revolutionary engine capable of bending space and enabling instantaneous intergalactic travel. As the world teeters on the edge of collapse from environmental disaster, starvation and war, their invention could be humanity’s last hope. But the test produces an unexplained result, followed by a fatal disaster that disgraces the team and shuts the project down. Determined to uncover the truth of what they created, the scientists turn to the criminal underground to fund a rebuild—driven to finish what they started, whatever the cost.
