Pure afrobeat heat rolls in to Hamer Hall as Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 bring their pioneering sound and live-affirming energy to RISING this June 5th.
Youngest son of Afrobeat icon and Rock and roll hall of fame inductee Fela Kuti; Seun alongside his father’s ensemble Egypt 80 preserves Fela’s legacy while innovating with shades of soul and jazz.
On stage, Seun cuts an incredibly explosive and commanding presence—conducting the group through rapid-fire brass blasts, bouncy guitar lines and syncopated grooves. Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 will be there with their latest set from album Heavier Yet (Lays the Crownless Head).
In support are Naarm’s afrobeat juggernaut Public Opinion Afro Orchestra set to deliver a pulsing percussive journey blending pan-African, local and hip hop influences. Presented in collaboration with Stani Goma.
