Predict the cast of The Slap to win 50 Hopscotch DVDs

11 Aug 2010 to 30 Sep 2010

http://www.hopscotchfilms.com.au/win/

Predict the cast in the upcoming TV adaptation of THE SLAP for your chance to win 50 Hopscotch DVDs.

Christos Tsiolkas' international bestseller, THE SLAP, is finally set to hit our TV screens in an 8-part mini series to be broadcast on the ABC in 2011, and Hopscotch Entertainment is thrilled to announce its involvement in the DVD release.

THE SLAP series will be produced by Matchbox Pictures and the creative team behind the project already includes Brendan Cowell, (Noise, Love My Way) Robert Connolly (The Bank and Balibo), Tony Ayres (Home Song Stories) and Cate Shortland, (Somersault), amongst other brilliant Aussie talents.

This highly-anticipated screen adaptation is currently being cast and to kick things off, Hopscotch Entertainment is running a competition that gives fans of the book a chance to guess who will be starring.

We love a good guessing game here at Hopscotch, and we want everyone to get involved. We're asking you to predict which Australian actors will play in the television series of THE SLAP- for the chance to win your choice of 50 DVDs from our extensive catalogue, such as Vicky Christy Barcelona, Mongol, Mao's Last Dancer and Bright Star. Check out our online shop here for a full list of our titles.

Who do you envisage in the following roles...?

1. Harry: Notorious, brutal and misogynistic, Harry is the antithesis of a novel's hero.

2. Hector: Handsome but slowly crumbling, Hector is determined to preserve his deteriorating marriage and increasingly fragile state of mind.

3. Rosie: The beautiful but adrift mother, Rosie is struggling emotionally and financially to raise her child with a disengaged and alcoholic partner, Gary.

4. Richie: Young and imaginative, Richie is battling the everyday dilemmas of adolescence as well as his emerging sexuality.

5. Aisha: Hector's intelligent and stunning Indian wife, Aisha is admired by many for her calm and confidence, but finds herself increasingly bored with the mediocrity of her suburban life.

6. Connie: Young and impressionable, Connie unexpectedly falls in love and into a brief and overwhelming affair with Hector.

7. Manolis: Having immigrated to Australia from Greece in the 60's, Manolis is Hector's father and still harbours many old-school beliefs and values, and is disillusioned by the choices of his children.

8. Anouk: Smart, sassy and strong-willed; Anouk decided long ago to forfeit the family life that her friends had chosen and opted instead for the simplicity of fun relationships. After bravely quitting her job as a screen-writer, she is determined to finally complete her novel.

THE SLAP is a poignant, candid novel about the realities of child-rearing and acceptable social behaviour in suburban, middle-class Australia. Already the celebrated novel is the topic of countless conversations throughout the nation and is the recipient of several prestigious literary awards.

Which Australian actors will be cast to play Harry, Hector, Rosie, Richie, Aisha, Connie, Manolis and Anouk in the ABC TV adaption of THE SLAP?
