http://www.threethousand.com.au/issues/271/Win a Semi-Permanent 2 day passUnless you discover the secret of invisibility so you can go and look up some dresses, Semi-Permanent will be the best thing happening in town on 17 and 18 September. Design Is Kinky's legendary conference is coming to Melbourne for a second time this year - presenting a line-up of speakers at the Exhibition Centre, a temporary exhibition space designed by MOTH and curated by amBUSH gallery at the GPO, and at least one party besides.
No offence to anyone, but the first speaker you need to know about is California-based designer Andy Jenkins. He has worked on legendary publications Raygun, Warp, Big Brother and Transworld Skateboarding - and has been the art director of Girl Skateboards since 1994. Yes.
Other speakers include Melbourne-based artist, and the designer of Tame Impala's amazing Innerspeaker album cover, Leif Podhajsky; photographer Claire Martin; some dudes from the D&AD award-winning studio Big Active; Martin Aufinger and Simon French from the visual effects and animation studio Framestore; British designers United Visual Artists (UVA) and a buttload more. And who? Oh, just Simon Allen from Pixar.
Semi-Permanent has just extended the deadline for early ticket purchases (read: discounts!) until 3 September. So put down that manuscript you bought on eBay and buy one now. Or win a 2-day pass, valued at $310.
