FlickerFest is Australia's premiere international short film festival. For 2011, Flickerfest is thrilled to announce FlickerUp – their inaugural National youth competition for films from primary and secondary school students or filmmakers under 18 years year of age across Australia.
Films should be imaginative, fun and original, while showcasing youth talent. The organisers encourage documentary, animation or drama on any theme. Finalists will screened at the ten day Flickerfest festival in Sydney, with the highlights from each state shown as part of a national tour to all states and many regional centres across Australia.
A jury made up of film industry professionals will judge films in two categories, Best Primary School and Best High School short, Prizes will also be awarded for Best Animation and Best Short Documentary. Generous prizes for each category.

Flickerfest is a BAFTA-recognised festival for the purposes of eligibility for the Short Film Award in 2010/2011.
FLiCKERFEST, Australia's premier international short film festival, will be held at the Bondi Pavilion on Sydney's famous Bondi Beach in January 2011. The Festival in 2011 will celebrate 20 years of screening the best short films from Australia and around the world in competitions and special showcases. Following the Festival in Sydney, a selection of films will go on tour to capital cities and regional centres around Australia.
COMPETITIONS
The 2011 Festival will include the following competitions:
•International competition - open to films from anywhere in the world, available for screening on 35mm Film Print
•Australian competition - open to films made in Australia by Australian residents, available for screening on 35mm Film Print or Digital Beta or SP Beta Video Tape
•Documentary competition - open to short documentaries from anywhere in the world, available for screening on 35mm Film Print or Digital Beta or SP Beta Video Tape
•GreenFlicks - Environmental Shorts competition - open to films, including ones from school students, with a focus on or with environmental themes, available for screening on either 35mm Film Print or or Digital or SP Beta Video Tape
•FlickerUp - Australian School Students Competition - open to films from students enrolled in primary or secondary schools in Australia, or individuals under 18 available on 35mm Film Print, Digital Beta or SP Beta, or DVD. This competition will be divided into 2 sections for Primary age and Secondary age Student entries.

Eligibiility for Flickerfest 2011
To be eligible for Flickerfest film competitions all shorts must be no more than 35 minutes in length.
All productions screened at Flickerfest 2011 must have been completed within 2 years of the entry closing date and must be in English or have English subtitles.
Due to the competitive nature of Flickerfest, AUSTRALIAN FILMS SELECTED FOR COMPETITION SHOULD NOT HAVE SCREENED IN NSW WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF THE FESTIVAL DATES.
WE PREFER FILMS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN BROADCAST IN AUSTRALIA OR MADE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET, AND INTERNATIONAL SHORTS THAT ARE AN AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE.

•Greenflicks- Environmental entries must be submitted online by 5pm FRIDAY 22nd October
•Flickerup- Schools entries must be submitted online by 5pm Friday 22nd October
