The Exceedingly lovely Monarch of the Glen comes to a close with the release this month of this fab 10 disc box set of the complete series 5-7. To celebrate we have four copies to give away!
As regular viewers of the show will know Monatch of the Glen follows the fortunes of the MacDonald clan, especially young Archie who gives up his high flying London life to try and revive the fortunes of this failing Scottish estate. By the time the fifth season rolled around things were looking up but Archie and new wife Lexie (the maid at the estate who had eventually allowed herself to fall in love with Archie) are just about to head off to New Zealand, luckily though Archie's half brother Paul (played by Lloyd Owen) arrives on the scene to take over the running of the estate.
Much of the action and drama of these final three seasons centres around Paul's attempts to come to terms with the heritage of Glenbogle and there is a brilliant final season as events come to a major head when it looks like the estate is on the verge of financial collapse and the threat of a take-over from hostile buyers.
A great series, much in the mould of Sunday night classics like All Creatures Great and Small and Heartbeat, the ten disc set of Monarch of the Glen: The Complete Series 5-7 also includes the 2003 Hogmanay Special and the bonus feature The Last Monarch.
