Winter's Bone, a powerful story about a young girl who sets out in the wilderness to find her father and hold her family together, deservedly won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance this year, and is being talked up as an early Oscar contender.
Contributing to the film's powerful mood was the soundtrack which combined classic Americana music and contemporary tunes. Among the highlights are the old time sounds of the Ozarks translated into the 21st century by stellar vocalist Marideth Sisco. The soundtrack also features a handful of exceptional regional musicians including Dennis Crider - an expert Western Swing guitar picker, Missouri bluegrass maverick Bo Brown, singer/songwriter Rick Reding, and Missouri Ozarks fiddle master Billy Ward.
