Max Raabe & The Palast Orchestra. Live in Berlin. This release is just a remarkable offering for our end of year competition.
It will transport you back to the wonderful musical pre- war years in Berlin during the 20’s and 30’s.
Max Raabe is an artist that I feel many of you will be unfamiliar with. He only formed his orchestra in 1986, when he realized that no one was playing the music that he knew and had loved as he was growing up. Songs such as Night and Day, Cheek to Cheek, Just One of Those Things, You’re the Cream in my Coffee, just to name a few.
He hoped to recreate the sound from those years, and has been astonished with the reaction to his music. Raabe and his orchestra have become so popular, that they perform to sold out concerts, not only in Berlin, but also in many other countries. With every one dressed in their Tuxedo’s with stiff collars they project the era of the 20’s and 30’s perfectly.
Although Max Raabe studied in Berlin to be a baritone opera singer, he has the extraordinary ability to pitch his voice up to a light tenor sound..
