Thanks to our partners Pirtek Fluid Systems, Berkley, Lowrance, Roman and JVC the 2011 Pirtek Fishing Challenge will again feature cash prizes for first place, and fantastic prize packs for 2nd, 3rd and 4th places. And the juniors don’t miss out, with a JVC PICSIO Waterproof HD Pocket Camera for first place and a great prizes for second.

Each state offers multiple target species, and this year we’ve added the Murray-Darling Basin.

Terms and Conditions
1.The Pirtek Fishing Competition (“the Competition”) is an open fishing competition. Target species will be notified within the 12-hour period prior to the day of the tournament start.
2.The Pirtek Fishing Competition is conducted by National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd.
3.The object of the Competition is Capture, Measure, Photograph and Release of fish.
4.The Competition will take place on Sunday, 10 April, 2011.
5.Registration fee will be AU$20.00.
6.Registrations for the competition will open on 03 January, 2011 and close on 28 March, 2011.
7.Late registrations will be accepted up until 4 April, 2011, but will attract an additional express postage and handling fee of $15.00.
a.Late entries will not be eligible for the “Fish the Challenge with ET and Guesty” prize draw.
8.All paid and registered competitors are eligible to enter the Polycraft /E-tec major prize draw and Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty prize draw.
a.Please see Clause 49 below for full details of the Polycraft/E-tec major prize draw.
i.The Polycraft/E-tec major prize draw will open on 3 January 2011 and close on 4 April 2011.
b.Please see Clause 50 below for full details of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty prize draw.
i.The Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty prize draw will open on 3 January 2011 and close on 28 March 2011.
9.Registered competitors will be eligible to compete in the State categories or the Murray/Darling Basin category, not both. Please see Clause 45 for full details on the Murray/Darling Basin category.
10.All competitors must hold a valid fishing license as per State regulations.
11.Target species for each Australian State or Territory will be advised to competing anglers via e-mail and website www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au at 1800 hours EST on Saturday, 9 April, 2011.
12.Competing anglers will commence fishing 0600 hours on Sunday, 10 April, 2011 and cease fishing at 1800 hours on Sunday, 10 April, 2011.
13.No lines in water until 0600 hours on Sunday, 10 April, 2011 and all lines out of the water at 1800 hours on Sunday, 10 April, 2011.
14.Digital photographs are to include the time and date where possible.
15.Only photographs of fish on Pirtek fish brag mats with competing angler number displayed are eligible for the Competition.
16.Photographs must be of a live fish, with the exception of any species deemed by State Fisheries to be a pest and recommended not to be returned to the waterway.
17.Once the photograph has been taken the fish must be released as quickly as possible, carefully back into the water. Any evidence of fish being killed after the photograph has been taken will see that fish ineligible for the competition.
18.Any digital manipulation of photographs is prohibited and will result in instant disqualification of competing angler.
19.It is the responsibility of the competing angler to ensure photographs are uploaded to the website correctly.
20.Only one (1) photograph per competing angler can be uploaded to www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au.
21.Only one (1) photograph will be accepted per competing angler.
22.Any photographs sent to the Pirtek Fishing Challenge can be used for marketing or advertising purposes by Pirtek Fishing Challenge.
23.Participants, competitors and observers:
a.acknowledge that fishing and boating are activities which contain elements of risk and danger;
b.acknowledge that the decision to participate in the Competition and the decision to go to sea is theirs alone;
c.accept full responsibility for their own safety and the risks and consequences of participating in the event;
d.hold National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, its associated companies and franchisees blameless;
e.release and discharge National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, its associated companies and franchisees from any liability; and
f.indemnify National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, its associated companies and franchisees for any claims, actions, suits and court proceedings brought against it or any of them arising from the conduct of the event.
24.Junior anglers must be under 16 years of age at the start of the calendar year.
25.Competing anglers may only enter fish caught by themselves.
26.Photographs may be uploaded to www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au by participants from 0600 hours EST on Sunday, 10 April 2011 until 0700 hours EST, Monday, 11 April, 2011.
27.In the event of an angler not registering their fish photograph prior to 0700 hours EST on Monday, 11 April, 2011 the angler will be disqualified from the Competition.
28.All fish must comply with State Fisheries minimum lengths and bag limits. The Pirtek Fishing Challenge organizing committee strongly recommends for all anglers to avoid targeting spawning or pre-spawning aggregations of fish stocks.
29.Anglers may fish a maximum of 2 lines in the water at any one time.
30.Netting with a hand held landing net is the only assistance permissible to a competitor (junior or senior) in the capture of a fish.
31.Where possible the use of knotless (i.e. Environet style) nets are to be used in the landing of fish.
32.If a pest fish is chosen as a target species it can be photographed on the brag mat then dispatched by a sharp blow to the head or placed in an ice slurry. The fish should be disposed of in an appropriate waste bin.
33.Boats must comply with Waterways safety requirements. Please ensure all boats and trailers are free of noxious weeds, plants and their seeds before entering the waterway.
34.The organizers strongly recommend the use of Australian bait products only and discourage the use of imported baits such as frozen prawns.
35.Any noxious fish species caught, ie, carp or tilapia, should be disposed of according to Fisheries regulations.
36.All competitors are strictly advised to remove all rubbish from campsites and waterways and place them in the correct disposal areas/bins.
37.Where possible the organizers recommend the use of kayaks, canoes or electric motors to minimize the carbon footprint of the competition.
38.The Competition is not open to commercial fishing vessels (recreation style charter vessels are permitted).
39.All fish must be caught on rod, reel or hand line with only one hook or one lure attached to the line.
40.Commercial fishing methods and techniques are not permitted.
41.Fishing inside marine parks and reserves may be prohibited in your State. Please check with your local authority to confirm areas permitted for recreational fishing. Any fish taken from these areas will be ineligible for entry into the competition.
42.No farmed or commercially grown fish are permitted in the competition.
43.Hatchery fish and home aquarium fish are excluded from the competition.
44.Fish stocked in private dams are excluded from the competition, only impoundments open to the public are permitted.
45.The Murray Darling Basin:
a.The Murray Darling Basin encompasses an area from south-western Queensland, western New South Wales, central western Victoria and the Murray catchment in South Australia.
b.Fish eligible for the Challenge can be caught in any river or tributary flowing into either the Murray or Darling Rivers. To simplify any public river, tributary or creek that flows west of the Great Dividing Range and eventually into the Murray or Darling rivers is permitted.
c.Competitors can be from Queensland, New South Wales / ACT, Victoria and South Australia.
d.Competitors may only upload one photograph for the competition. If the fish entered is in the Murray Darling Basin category you may not enter a fish in your State category.
e.Fish entered in this category are put down as Murray Darling Basin or MDB and not State specific.
f.Public impoundments that are west of the Great Dividing Range and open to fishing for the target species selected are eligible for inclusion.
g.Private dams and impoundments are strictly excluded from the Challenge.
h.There will be two target species in the Murray Darling Basin category. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, third, fourth, junior first and junior second for both target species.
46.The winning fish for each target species will be judged by overall length. That is from the front of the mouth to the tip of the tail.
a.First place for each target species will be awarded to the longest fish overall; second place to the second longest fish; third place to the third longest fish; four place to the fourth longest fish.
b.Junior prizes will be first place to the longest fish overall for each target species; and second place to the second longest fish for each target species.
c.In the event of a tie (ie, two or more fish of the same length) a countback will apply. The first fish photo uploaded to the Pirtek Fishifng Challenge website will be awarded the prize. (For example, a photo uploaded at 4.55pm will win over a fish sent at 4.56pm and measuring the identical length.)
47.The winners and runners-up for each Australian State and Territory will be posted on www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au and announced on Radio 2GB and affiliates via The Fishing Show between 5 am – 6 am EST on Saturday, 16 April, 2011. They will also be contacted via telephone and mail.
48.Prize money will be paid within 28 days from 16 April, 2011. The national prize pool is as follows:
a.First prize: Seventeen (17) x $4000 cash
b.Second prize: Seventeen (17) x prize packs up to the value of $750.00
c.Third prize: Seventeen (17) x prize packs up to the value of $500.00
d.Fourth prize: Seventeen (17) x prize packs up to the value of $250.00
e.1st Junior prize: Seventeen (17) x prize packs up to the value of $329.00
f.2nd Junior prize: Seventeen (17) x prize packs up to the value of $150.00
g.State by State breakdown of the prize pool is as follows:

49.The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
50.Polycraft/E-Tec Major Prize Draw:
a.Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these terms and conditions. Any entry not complying with these terms and conditions is invalid.
b.Entry is open to residents of Australia.
c.To enter, log on to www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au, locate the Pirtek Fishing Challenge registration form and follow the prompts to complete the registration application, including payment of the Pirtek Fishing Challenge $20.00 entry fee.
d.All paid and registered competitors are eligible and automatically entered into the Major Prize Draw.
e.The competition will open on 3 January, 2011 and close on 4 April, 2011.
f.There are two (2) prizes only in the competition.
g.Entrants may only enter the competition once.
h.The first entry drawn will win a Polycraft Industries 4.80m Brumby centre console boat, Evinrude E-tec 75hp engine and Oceanic boat trailer. Retail value up to $34,613. Included in the prize:
i.One (1) Polycraft Industries 4.80m Brumby centre console boat. RRP $11,352.
ii.One (1) Evinrude E-tec 75hp outboard engine (E75DSLIS/DP). RRP $13,138.
iii.One (1) Oceanic trailer to suit 4.80m Brumby boat. RRP $3151.
iv.One (1) Hydrive Bosun kit to suit 4.80m Brumby and Evinrude E-tec 75hp outboard engine. RRP $1222
v.Berkley fishing tackle up to RRP $2000.
vi.Lowrance electronics package up to RRP $1000.
vii.Boat wrap provided by X-Factor signs. RRP $2750
viii.The boat and trailer have been registered in the State of New South Wales. The winner will be responsible for any transfer costs, duties or State specific registration requirements.
ix.It is the responsibility of the winner to have insurance in place at time of collection.
x.Once the boat package has been collected temporary insurance cover will be cancelled.
xi.Prize to be collected by winner at nearest capital city.
xii.Prize will be available for collection at nearest capital city within 28 days from the date of the prize draw.
xiii.Prize is not transferrable.
xiv.Prize is not redeemable for cash.
i.The second entry drawn will win a $1000 BCF spending spree. Retail value up to: $1000.00.
i.Prize is not redeemable for cash.
ii.Prize is not transferrable.
iii.The $1000 BCF spending spree voucher will be mailed within 28 days from the date of the prize draw.
iv.The $1000 BCF spending spree is redeemable in store only.
v.The winner must make their own way to a BCF store of their choosing to spend their $1000 spending spree.
j.The draw will be conducted on 14 April, 2011 at 11.00 am EST via a barrel draw and witnessed by a Justice of the Peace at Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, 3-5 Garling Road, Kings Park, NSW, 2148.
k.The prize winners will be notified on 16 April, 2011 via www.pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au and announced on Radio 2GB and affiliates on The Fishing Show between 5 am – 6 am EST on Saturday, 16 April, 2011. They will also be contacted via telephone and mail.
l.The names of prize winners along with their town and State location will be published in The Australian on 20 April, 2011 and also on the pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au website.
m.The Promoter may conduct an unclaimed prize draw at the same place as the original draw on 16 July, 2011 at 11.00 am EST to distribute any prizes unclaimed by that date. The first valid entry drawn will win the unclaimed prize and the draw will continue until all unclaimed prizes have been distributed. Any winners of an unclaimed prize will be notified in writing and have their name, town and State location published in The Australian on 20 July, 2011 and also on the pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au website.
n.If a winner of the Polycraft/E-Tec Major Prize Draw is a minor (under the age of 18 years) the prize will be awarded to the legal guardian or parent of the minor.
o.Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the Promoter’s database. The Promoter is not responsible for receipt of incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information caused by an entrant or occurring during transmission.
p.Each entry becomes the property of the Promoter. All details will be held in accordance with Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd privacy policy which is available on request by contacting 02 8822 9000.
q.The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

ii.find the key word on the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty page,
iii.locate the Pirtek Fishing Challenge registration form and follow the prompts to complete the registration application, including payment of the Pirtek Fishing Challenge $20.00 entry fee
iv.and complete the five letter key word at the bottom of the registration page.
d.All paid and registered competitors are eligible to enter the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty Prize Draw.
e.The competition will open on 3 January 2011 and close on 28 March, 2011.
f.There is one (1) prize only in the competition.
g.Entrants may only enter the competition once.
h.The first entry drawn will win two (2) return economy flights to Newcastle, two (2) nights accommodation and a day fishing with ET and Guesty on Sunday, 10 April, 2011 at Lake Macquarie, NSW. Retail value up to $2000.00. Included in the prize:
i.Return economy flights from any major Australian capital city to Newcastle for two (2) persons.
ii.Return transfers to and from Newcastle Airport to Rafferty’s Resort.
iii.Two (2) nights accommodation at Rafferty’s Resort in a two bedroom, self contained apartment.

j.The winner of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty will be notified on 31 March 2011 via telephone,in writing and will be published on the pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au website.
k.The names of the prize winner along with their town and State location will be published in The Australian on 1 April, 2011.
l.If the winner declines the prize, it will be re-drawn on 4 April, 2011 at 11.00 am EST via a barrel draw and witnessed by a Justice of the Peace at Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, 3-5 Garling Road, Kings Park, NSW, 2148.
i.The re-draw winner of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty will be notified on 4 April 2011 via telephone, in writing and will be published on the pirtekfishingchallenge.com.au website.
ii.The name of the prize winner along with their town and State location will be published in The Australian on 5 April, 2011.
m.If the winner of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty prize draw is a minor (under the age of 18 years) the minor must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent.
n.The winner of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty will not be eligible for the Polycraft/E-Tec Major Prize Draw or BCF Spending Spree.
o.Late entries are not eligible for the “Fish the Challenge with ET and Guesty” prize draw.
p.Winners of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guesty Prize Draw:
i.acknowledge that boating and associated activities contain elements of risk and danger;
ii.acknowledge that the decision to participate in the prize draw and the decision to accept the prize is theirs alone;
iii.accept full responsibility for their own safety and the risks and consequences of boating and associated activities;
iv.hold National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, its associated companies and franchisees, Andrew Ettingshausen, Michael Guest blameless;
v.release and discharge National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, its associated companies and franchisees, Andrew Ettingshausen, Michael Guest from any liability; and
vi.indemnify National Fishing Challenge Pty Ltd, Pirtek Fluid Systems Pty Ltd, its associated companies and franchisees, Andrew Ettingshausen, Michael Guest for any claims, actions, suits and court proceedings brought against it or any of them arising from the conduct of the Fish The Challenge with ET and Guest Prize Draw.
q.The Pirtek Fishing Challenge Committee decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
52.Total State prize pools are:
a.ACT/ NSW: Up to the value of: $67,508
b.NT: Up to the value of: $43,592
c.QLD: Up to the value of:$67,508
d.SA: Up to the value of: $61,529
e.TAS: Up to the value of: $49,571
f.VIC: Up to the value of: $61,529
g.WA: Up to the value of: $49,571
53.All issues overlooked in these Rules will be addressed by the Pirtek Fishing Challenge committee and their decision will be final.
