In recognition of the need to encourage children to expand their minds and challenge their writing skills, Pilot Pen Australia is launching the Pilot Pen Creative Scholarship Program[download info sheet].

The program, open to children in years five and six across Australia requires children to develop their own creative short story written by hand. The presentation of the story is also important, focusing on handwriting appearance and taking into consideration literacy factors like spelling and grammar.

The scholarship builds on the finding in the Pilot Creativity Report. Pilot Pen is committed to education and nurturing creativity in children and creative writing is essential element in developing a child’s imagination and self expression as well as other important life skills. The Pilot Pen Creativity Report looks at the impact that increased technology in schools could be having on children’s learning and development.

The report was written in collaboration with renowned child psychologist Kimberley O’Brien who is also on the judging panel for the Pilot Creative Scholarship Program.
