Opera Australia’s celebrated production of the ultimate romantic opera, Verdi’s La traviata is at the Arts Centre, Melbourne from 16 November till 17 December.
Russian soprano Elvira Fatykhova makes her Melbourne debut as Violetta, a woman of the world finally daring to fall in love.
The story:
Paris, 1890. Violetta, the beautiful courtesan, pours champagne for her many admirers but never has she dared to fall in love with any of them. Until, that is, she meets Alfredo. Their eyes meet across the crowded Parisian salon and something changes. In fact, everything changes.
The artists:
Elvira Fatykhova wowed Sydney audiences when she performed Violetta in 2010, now she makes her Melbourne debut in the role. She is joined by the dashing Aldo Di Toro as Alfredo, and master Verdian Michael Lewis as Giorgio.
