Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg’s iconic thriller comes to Blu-ray for the first time ever, digitally remastered and fully restored. That Blu-ray copy you bought in Hong Kong doesn’t count. And ‘restored’… Do you ever wonder what that means?
Anyway, Jaws – the landmark motion picture that still has audiences afraid to go in the water – features an all new, digitally remastered and fully restored picture, as well as 7.1 surround sound. That way you can hear Roy Schneider’s face crinkling in the sun in crisp detail.
When it was first released in 1975, Jaws smashed box office records and became the highest grossing film of its era, earning Spielberg a reputation as a Hollywood visionary – a reputation he demolished with only one film: Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Today, Jaws remains one of the highest grossing films in motion picture history (if you extend the rankings considerably) and is largely considered the film that launched the summer blockbuster (by people who are not familiar with the Star Wars franchise).
Anyway, Jaws is totally awesome and if you want a copy, email
allan@bmamag.com and tell him what creature (which has not been mythologised in film) should be made into a villainous opponent and what the title of that film would be.
Email the editor with your name, phone number and address to see if you can pick up yourself a one of these.
