Canon Ratings and Reviews Competition
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of Terms and Conditions. Entry into this
competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
2. The competition commences at 09:00am AEST on 11/07/12 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on
30/09/12 (the “Competition Period”).

3. Entry is only open to Australian and New Zealand residents who are MyCanon members (which
includes the MyCanon microsites such as the World of EOS) who have a valid email address
registered on their MyCanon account, that has an associated password (“Eligible Entrant”).

Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter, associated companies and agencies, are
ineligible to enter.
4. Eligible Entrants will be automatically entered into the prize draw if, during the Competition Period,
they provide a product rating and review about any of the Canon products listed on the Canon
Australia (www.canon.com.au) or Canon New Zealand (www.canon.co.nz) website

Entrants who do not wish to be automatically entered into this Competition should contact the
Promoter at mycanon@canon.com.au.
5. To provide a product rating and review Eligible Entrants must, during the Competition Period, log
into their MyCanon account; select the Canon product they wish to rate and review; follow the links
to the ‘Write a Review’ page; rate the Canon product and write their review, including all mandatory
information; and submit their review. Reviews must be written in English.

6. Each Eligible Entrant will be automatically entered into the prize draw each time they provide a
product rating and review on a separate Canon product in accordance with the provisions of clause
5. The use of any automated entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means, including
those by an individual person to attempt to enter repeatedly without submitting a genuine product
rating and review is prohibited and will render all entries submitted by that person invalid.
7. The prizes to be awarded are:
(a) Tier 1: One (1) major prize of a Canon EOS 60D Premium Kit (EOS 60D Body plus EF-S 18-
200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens) valued at RRP AUD$1,749.00 (“Tier 1 Prize”); and
(b) Tier 2: Four (4) minor prizes of a Canon PowerShot D20 valued at RRP AUD$449.00 each
(“Tier 2 Prize”).

The total prize pool is valued at AUD$3,545.00
8. The prize draw will be conducted by way of random selection at 1:00pm AEDST on 08/10/12 at
Anisimoff Legal, Suite 3, Erina Plaza, 210 Central Coast Highway, Erina, NSW 2250. The Promoter
will first draw five (5) entries for verification (Initial Winners) and then draw another ten (10) entries
to form the reserve list (Reserve Entrants). All the drawn entries will be recorded in the order drawn. 9. Upon verification, if any of the Initial Winners are invalid or ineligible, the first valid Reserve Entrant
will be assigned as the next winner after all the valid Initial Winners.
10. Any Reserve Entrants who are not assigned as a winner after verification of the Initial Winners will
be eligible for the unclaimed prize draw, if any.
11. The first Eligible Entrant drawn and verified as valid will win the Tier 1 Prize.  The next four (4)
verified Eligible Entrants drawn will each win one (1) Tier 2 Prize.
12. Winners will be notified within two (2) business days of the draw by email and their names will be
published online on the canon.com.au and canon.co.nz websites on 22/10/12. The names of
winners from Australia will also be published in The Australian on 22/10/12.
13. Prizes will be sent to the winners within four (4) weeks of the winners’ confirmation of their postal
details.
14. In the event that any prizes remain unclaimed by 10:00am AEDST on 17/01/13, an unclaimed prize
draw will take place at Anisimoff Legal, Suite 3, Erina Plaza, 210 Central Coast Highway, Erina,
NSW 2250 to distribute any unclaimed prizes, subject to any written directions provided by any
relevant lottery authorities.
15. The winners of the unclaimed prize draw, if any, will be notified within two (2) business days of the
unclaimed prize draw by email and their names will be published online on the canon.com.au and
canon.co.nz websites on 31/01/13. The names of winners from Australia will also be published in
The Australian on 31/01/13.
16. All entries (which shall include the reviews) submitted become the property of the Promoter. Entries
will not be returned to any entrant. As a condition of entering into this promotion, each entrant
agrees to assign all of their rights, title and interest (including copyright) in and to their entry to the
Promoter. Each entrant warrants to the Promoter that each review submitted is an original literary
work of the entrant that does not infringe the rights of any third party.  The entrant agrees to
indemnify the Promoter against all costs and claims by third parties arising from a breach of this
warranty.  Entrants consent to any use of their submission which may otherwise infringe their moral
rights pursuant to the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).
17. If this competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably
anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not
limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in
its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any Eligible Entrant; or (b)
subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel
the competition, as appropriate.
18. If any of the prizes are unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right, in its
discretion, to substitute that prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to any directions from
a regulatory authority.
19. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspect of the competition is final and binding on each
person who is entered and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes are subject to availability,
not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Prizes will be sent to the winner’s
nominated address as confirmed when contacting the winners. 20. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to:
(a) verify the validity of entries;
(b) verify the Eligible Entrant’s personal details (including an Eligible Entrant’s identity, age and
place of residence); and
(c) disqualify any entrant who enters in a way that is not in accordance with these Terms and
Conditions or who tampers with the entry. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's
discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a
waiver of those rights.
21. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct the competition and may, for this
purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors,
service providers, prize suppliers and, as required by Australian or New Zealand regulatory
authorities. Automatic entry is conditional on providing this information. When joining MyCanon,
Eligible Entrants may opt in to receive marketing and general information from the Promoter.
Members of MyCanon can access, update or correct their contact information and preferences to
the Promoter through their profile page at http://www.canon.com.au/MyCanon or
http://www.canon.co.nz/MyCanon. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
22. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or
modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act,
as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in
the State and Territories of Australia and New Zealand (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for
any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter
(including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence),
for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct,
indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition.
23. Subject to any liability (including the statutory consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer
Law) that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents)
excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including
loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the
competition, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following:
(a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
(b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
(c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after
their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
(d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions;
(e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or Eligible Entrant; or
(f) use of a prize.
24. Any cost associated with accessing the MyCanon website is the Eligible Entrant's responsibility and
