The Queen’s Diamond Decades
The past 60 Years has been a period of unprecedented and often turbulent global change, all under the watchful eye of the Queen.
There have been eleven British prime ministers since 1952 but only one Queen Elizabeth 11 .
She is the only sovereign to match Queen Victoria in reaching the pinnacle of a diamond Jubilee.
Diamond Decades unearths some rare and previously unseen archive film not just of the Royal Family, but of key moments in British and World history, and, of course, the final episode concludes with last year’s Royal Wedding, when for once the Queen plays a supporting role
The Queen is more than just a Head of State.
Early episodes shows intimate film of the Queen as a young girl, then a wife, mother and grandmother.
Having Prince Charles visiting Australia this week, it was quite strange seeing him as a baby and then a young boy growing up. It makes you realize how the years have flown by.
I found this six part series really interesting and enjoyable, and it brought back lots of memories. I could remember exactly where I was, when some of the events shown, were happening.
A three disc set runs for 327 minutes. Released 7 November.
