 Little Wooden Freight Train
By John Major at Jack’s Toy Room
           Value $25

John Major from Jack’s Toy Room in Oregon, makes handmade toys out of solid, high quality wood (mainly pine, poplar, maple, walnut, ash, and occasionally birch) that will last. None of the toys are finished with a toxic finish. All the wheels on his toys, unless otherwise indicated, turn and move freely. This toy train is special because the base of the engine and three cars are made out of Brazilian cherry and that it is finished with non-toxic shellac. Everything is securely held together with wood glue and the cars are hooked to each other with kid-safe hooks that won’t come out. There is one engine and three cars in this little train that measure about seven or eight inches long. Visit Jack’s Toy Room for more handcrafted wood toys and games.

Alphabet Choo-Choo Design Blocks
By Brooke McLane at Magens Bay Designs
Value $21

Brooke McLane from Magens Bay Designs says she has been creating for as long as she can remember. The inspiration for her blocks came from her son who was intrigued with blocks from an early age. Brooke decided to make him a personalized set of his own and soon was making blocks for birthday gifts, holiday gifts and more. Later with encouragement from friends, Brooke launched her Etsy shop from her home in Oregon in 2009. The name for her shop actually came from Magens Bay in the Virgin Islands where her husband proposed. Now she creates and sells blocks, games and beanbags for your little one. This set of six wooden 2 inch blocks are covered with six different styles of paper and sealed several times with a non-toxic varnish. They can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth and come with a canvas storage bag. Visit her Etsy shop for more designs and convo Brooke if interested in a custom order.
