THE MOVIE
IN 1969, the United States Navy created an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots with the purpose of teaching the art of aerial combat and to ensure that the few who graduated would be the best pilots in the world. Today, this school is known by the Navy as “Fighter-Weapons School” and “TOP GUN” by the fliers.
Top Gun is the highest-grossing film of 1986. The action-drama blockbuster was directed by Tony Scott and produced by legendary duo Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. The story centres on Peter “Maverick” Mitchell, a talented yet cocky pilot who bends the rules of aerial warfare to suit his needs, when he is given the chance to attend the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School he dives head-first into the highly competitive race to win the class’s prestigious ‘Top Gun’ title. But the cock-sure rookie is unexpectedly thrown for a loop into when a shock accident destroys his confidence and threatens his status as a pilot.
Top Gun has been remastered and re-released as a two-disk Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray 2D set. The artists at Legend3D—the team behind Transformers: Dark of the Moon—studied every shot to ensure a realistic sense of depth in the conversion to 3D. Also included is a six-part documentary on the making of the movie, behind the scenes, interviews with Tom Cruise, and commentary by the producer and director.

Competition commences on 6/3/2013 and concludes on 27/3/2013 at 12:00pm. Entry is open to all residents of Australia, but excludes all employees of Australian Penthouse. Entrants must provide their contact details and an answer to the question, “What is your favourite Tom Cruise film, and why?” in 25 words or less. This is a Game of Skill which contains no element of chance, and which will be judged by members of the Australian Penthouse staff on 27/3/13. Five winners will receive one Blu-ray copy of Top Gun 3D/2D, as detailed above. Prizes will be mailed to winners at the address nominated in their entries. The promoters take no responsibility for lost or misdirected entries, and no correspondence will be entered into.
