Share your favourite family dish for your chance to cook with Destination Flavour Down Under's Adam Liaw!

Competition is a game of skill, open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over only. Closes 11:59pm (AEST) 18/8/14. To enter, access the app by logging in to Facebook after clicking through to the entry link. Winner selected by 5pm (AEST) 21/8/14 at SBS Corporation of 14 Herbert St, Artarmon NSW 2064. Entrants must be available to travel on the specified dates. Entrants must consent to being filmed, should they be selected as the winner. Total prize pool $2,650 and includes return flights, accommodation, transfers and cooking experience with Adam Liaw.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
 

Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or older only.  Employees of SBS, their associated companies and their immediate families are ineligible.
 

The competition period starts on Friday 1 August, 2014 at 5pm (AEST) and ends on Monday 18 August, 2014 at 11:59pm (AEST) (the “Competition Period”).


To enter, entrants must:

Go to www.sbs.com.au/food and follow the directions on the website to enter via the Facebook application;

Register their details, including (but not limited to) name, email address and phone number;
Upload an original photo of their favourite family dish they have cooked;
Answer the following question in 25 words or less, “Why is this family dish special to you?” and submit their entry by clicking on the “Enter Now” button.

Participants are automatically signed up to the SBS Food e-newsletter.
 

Entries are subject to the following:
Only one (1) entry per person permitted;
Each Photo must:
                                                    i.     be of a family dish that is produced by the entrant independently; and

                                                   ii.     the photograph must be an original work taken by the entrant personally

Each 25 words or less response to “Why is this family dish special to you?” must:
                                                    i.     be written by the entrant independently; and

                                                   ii.     be an original work written by the entrant personally

Entry must be submitted in accordance with entry requirements to be deemed valid.
Entrants must be available to travel on the specified dates.
Entrants must consent to being filmed for the purposes set out below.
 

SBS reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of Australian residency status at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity, in order to claim a prize. Acceptance of proof of identification, Australian residency status and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of SBS. In the event that a winner cannot provide proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
 

Incomprehensible and incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
 

PRIZE

 

8.   Prize consists of the following:

Return economy flights for one person to Sydney departing from their nearest Australian capital city (excluding Sydney), valued at up to AUD$1,000 (RRP) inclusive of GST;
One night’s accommodation for one person in a minimum 4-star hotel, valued at up to AUD$400 (RRP) inclusive of GST;
Transport from airport to hotel, valued at up to AUD$75 (RRP) inclusive of GST;
Transport from hotel to cooking location, valued up to AUD$80 (RRP) inclusive of GST;
Transport from cooking location to airport,  valued up to AUD$95 (RRP) inclusive of GST;
Cooking experience for one (1) person with Adam Liaw, valued up to AUD$1,000 (RRP) inclusive of GST.
 

Total prize pool is valued at AUD$2,650 (RRP) inclusive of GST.

 

There may be circumstances in which the Promoter cannot provide the prizes as described for reasons beyond its reasonable control.  In those circumstances, the Promoter will provide an alternative prize or prizes of equal or greater value to the promoted prizes.
 

Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. If the Prize winner is from New South Wales, the flight portion of the Prize will be void.
 

SBS accepts no responsibility for any loss, damages, or injury incurred to enter the competition or in connection with taking up the prizes.
 

 

JUDGING

 

There are two (2) rounds to the competition:

Round 1: During the Competition Period, the public will vote for their favourite entries. The Top 10 highest-voted valid entries will be entered into the Final Round of judging. One vote, per person, per day permitted only. Participants may share their entry with friends to generate votes for their entry, but this is not a compulsory requirement of entry. In the event of a tie in number of votes, it will be at SBS’s discretion which of the tied entries will proceed to the shortlist for Round 2.

 

Round 2 (Final Round): Destination Flavour: Down Under’s Adam Liaw will judge from the shortlist of the top 10 highest-voted valid entries between 19 August 2014 at 9am (AEST) and 21 August at 5pm (AEST) inclusive at SBS Corporation, 14 Herbert Street, Artarmon, NSW 2064.  During this time, a representative from SBS will also contact the finalists to enquire about their recipe ingredients and the origins of the dish.
 

 

WINNER NOTIFICATION

 

The Prize winner will be notified by phone and email by 22 August 2014 at 3pm (AEST). The name of the prize winner and either their state or postcode will be published on the SBS Food website www.sbs.com.au/food on 25 August 2014.
 

 

UNCLAIMED PRIZE

 

If the Prize winner cannot be contacted by 26 August 2014 at 11am (AEST), SBS or its nominated agent will award the Prize to the next best entry (judged by Adam Liaw) from all remaining valid entries (“Unclaimed Prize”). The Unclaimed Prize winner will be notified by email and phone on 26 August 2014 at 11:30am (AEST). The name of the Unclaimed Prize winner (if applicable), along with either their state or postcode will be published on the SBS Food website www.sbs.com.au/food 26 August 2014.
 

 

TRAVEL

 

The winner must book their travel through SBS or SBS’s nominated agent prior to 27 August 2014 at 12pm (AEST). Winner must be available to travel either on 29 August 2014 and 30 August 2014, or 30 August 2014 and 31 August 2014, depending on Adam Liaw’s availability (“Travel Period”). If the Prize winner is not available or able to travel to all destinations forming part of the Prize during the Travel Period, the tickets shall be deemed null and void and the Prize will be forfeited.
 

The Prize winner will not accrue any frequent flyer points from taking the Prize. Bookings are subject to conditions and availability and are not re-routable. Once booked and approved by the prize supplier, any changes may incur a cancellation fee or amendment fee at the cost of the winner.  Once tickets have been issued they cannot be changed.
 

Neither SBS nor prize supplier/s or their associated companies will be held liable for any loss, damage or injury of the results directly or indirectly from the winner taking part in any aspect of the prize. Where relevant, the winner agrees that they take full responsibility for any activities engaged in while travelling and engaging in the prize package and will take out appropriate travel insurance.
 

Prize winners are responsible for all costs not expressly listed as being included in the prize, including without limitation, meals, entertainment, other travel and accommodation, transfers, passports, visas, re-entry permits, spending money, freights, excess baggage, government taxes, departure taxes, ground transportation, any tax liabilities, airport charges, incidentals, gratuities, service charges, optional extras, any applicable surcharges and any other related costs. A credit card imprint may be required from the winner and their guest by the hotel for incidental charges. Travel insurance is not included in the prize and will be the responsibility of the winner(s). Travel insurance is highly recommended to protect against the additional costs incurred in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
 

Travel arrangements to and from the nearest capital city airport in Australia, between Sydney airport and the hotel do not form part of the Prize and are the responsibility of the winner.
 

The prize winner must travel to all destinations forming part of the Prize.
 

All Prize travel will be subject to the prize supplier’s General Conditions of Carriage. The Promoter and prize supplier make no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. It is the responsibility of the winner to enquire about local issues and conditions at destinations before travel.
 

Neither SBS nor the prize supplier or their associated companies is responsible, to the extent permitted by law, for acts of god, acts of terrorism or war (declared or undeclared) or other events beyond SBS and prize supplier’s control which prevent awarding or acceptance of the prize in accordance with the prize description.
 

 

CONSENTS, WARRANTIES AND LICENCES

 

As a condition of entering this Competition, the winner consents to being filmed during the cooking experience with Adam Liaw for SBS promotional purposes. A short segment (maximum of 70 seconds) of the winner cooking with Adam Liaw and talking about their dish will be aired during one of Destination Flavour: Down Under’s ad breaks. A longer version (maximum 4 minutes) will be available online on the SBS Food site: www.sbs.com/food. The winner may be requested by SBS to sign further consents.
 

As a condition of entering this Competition, entrants consent to having their Photo, response to “why is this family dish special to you?”, along with their name displayed on the Facebook page and in the Competition application.
 

Each photograph entry submitted by an entrant must be that entrant’s original work and must not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party. Each entrant warrants that:
 

each Photo and the family dish photographed are their own original works and is not copied in any manner from any other works;
he/she owns all rights and interest in the Photo submitted and have obtained all express consent from:
                                                    i.     any persons appearing in the photos (or where a person appearing in a photo is under the age of 18, consent must be obtained from the minor’s parent or legal guardian); and

                                                   ii.     the owner of any private property (including any items, objects, or real property) photographed to enter the photo for this Competition in accordance with these Terms & Conditions;

he/she has the full power and capacity to grant the rights and consents set out in these Terms and Conditions; and
he/she will fully indemnify the Promoter against any loss or damages suffered by the Promoter in the event any of the warranties set out in this clause are false.
 

Entrants will retain ownership of copyright in their photograph; however, as a condition of entry, each entrant:
Agrees that their name, image, biography and entry (including, but not limited to, any written answers, photographs/images and videos) may be reproduced, published, communicated, broadcast or shown to the public by the Promoter in any media for its promotional purposes, without compensation to the entrants; for this purpose, each entrant grants to the Promoter a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, transferable and royalty-free licence in any such written answers, photographs/images and videos; and
Consents to any act or omission by the Promoter which may infringe any of the entrant’s moral rights (within the meaning of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth)), including:
                                                    i.     Failing to attribute (or correctly attribute) the entrant’s authorship of the entry, or

                                                   ii.     Making any modification, variation or amendment of any nature to the entry, whether or not it results in a material distortion or derogatory treatment of the entry.

 

FINAL CONDITIONS

 

27.    Entrants release Facebook and its associated companies from liability arising in respect of the Competition and acknowledge that:

The Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook;
Any information provided by the entrant in connection with the Competition is provided to the Promoter and not to Facebook; and
Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Competition will be directed to the Promoter, not to Facebook.
 

Any costs of using and accessing Facebook via a mobile phone, tablet or other devices will be dependent on the entrant’s individual mobile and internet service provider. The Promoter is not responsible for any costs associated with any mobile, telephony, internet or Facebook access and usage. The Promoter is not responsible for any other costs associated or incurred as a result of the entrant’s entry into the Competition.
 

Entry and continued participation in the Competition is dependent on entrants following and acting in accordance with the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php
 

30.    SBS takes no liability for any tax issues which may arise from accepting a prize in this competition. Consult an independent tax adviser if this is a concern.

 

31.    Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). SBS accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.

 

32.    It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier’s requirements.

 

33.    No responsibility will be accepted by the Promoter for late, lost or misdirected entries and all entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt of the entry into the Promoter’s database and NOT time of transmission by the entrant. The Promoter will accept no responsibility for any delays to entry caused by technical disruptions or malfunctions. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for outdated or incorrect contact details or contact details by which the entrant cannot be contacted during business hours on the relevant dates.

 

34.    Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, SBS (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal or permanent injury or loss of life; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.

 

35.    SBS assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alterations of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, due to causes including, but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of SBS which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, SBS reserves the right in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition. Subject to state regulations.

 

36.    This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.  Each entry will be individually judged, based upon literary and creative merit.  All entries must be the original independent creation of the entrant and free of any claims that they infringe any third party rights.  Entries must not have been published previously and/or have been used to win prizes in any other competitions.

 

SBS reserves the right to disqualify any entrant submitting an entry which, in the opinion of the judges, includes objectionable content, including but not limited to profanity, nudity, potentially insulting, scandalous, inflammatory or defamatory images or language. SBS may in its sole discretion disqualify entrants  who: tamper with the operation of the competition, or are suspected of doing so; benefit from any such tampering; acts in violation of these terms; acts in a disruptive manner; or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
 

38.    SBS’s decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

39.    All entries become and remain the property of SBS.  SBS may use the entrants' names and addresses for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.

 

40.    All details of the entrants will be used and preserved in accordance with the Information Privacy Principles and SBS Privacy Policy.  A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to the SBS Privacy Contact Officer. Unless otherwise notified, SBS may use the entries and details of entrants for promotional and publicity purposes.  Entrants consent to their full names and/or their entries being used in all media by SBS.

 

41.    Entrants acknowledge this competition is in no way associated with or endorsed by Facebook. Any information disclosed by entrants entering this competition is not provided to Facebook.
