Ipswich Enviroplan Photographic Competition and Exibition 2014
   

 

Explore, capture and celebrate the natural beauty of Ipswich by participating in the 2014 Enviroplan Photographic Competition and Exhibition. All photographers, from budding to experienced, are invited and encouraged to pull out the camera and have a go.

Enlargements and Framing

All wining and runner-up images will be enlarged and framed and presented on the awards night. Winning and runner-up images will also be on display at the public exhibition for a period of two weeks.

Competition Categories:

    Native Birds of Ipswich
    This category captures the diversity and natural beauty of bird species found within our city.The primary subject must be of a native bird species, and captured within the City of Ipswich.
    Native Flora of Ipswich
    This category captures the diversity and natural beauty of native vegetation found within our city. The primary subject must be of a native plant or fungi species, and captured within the City of Ipswich. This category includes macro photographs of native flora.
    Native Insects and Arachnids of Ipswich
    Photos taken of insects may include bees, spiders, beetles and many others! These photos must be taken within the City of Ipswich. This category includes macro photographs of native insects and arachnids.
    Native Fauna of Ipswich City Council
    This category captures the diversity and natural beauty of the native fauna found within our city. The primary subject must be identified as an Australian native animal, and captured within the City of Ipswich. Excludes birds, insects and arachnids.
    Bremer River
    The City of Ipswich lies within the Bremer River Catchment. The Bremer River Catchment holds six waterways, the largest of which is the Bremer River. Photos taken must have the Bremer River as the primary subject and taken within the City of Ipswich.
    Landscapes of Ipswich
    This category highlights the landscapes found within our city. The primary subject must be the natural landscape and sceneries found within the City of Ipswich.
    People in the Natural Environment
    Photos taken of individual or groups of people in the natural environment, participating in outdoor environmental and recreational activities. Activities may include camping, hiking, canoeing, horse riding, fishing and boating. This category highlights the ecological benefits the natural environment plays on our lives. Please ensure you have permission to photograph for all individuals within the photo, and all individuals in the photo are aware of entry to the competition. Entrant must have taken the photograph themselves.
    Clean and Green Ipswich – Sustainable Living
    Any photos included in this category must be providing evidence of clean, green and sustainable actions or infrastructure that helps to improve the natural environment within the City of Ipswich. This can include native gardens, water and energy conservation, wildlife protection and sustainable infrastructure.
    Primary School Category
    This category is to encourage primary school age students to consider the natural environment in Ipswich. Photos should be taken within the City of Ipswich and capture the natural environment, you could choose to photograph a native animal, native plant, natural landscape or the Bremer River in Ipswich.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

    The Promoter of the Ipswich Enviroplan Photograph Competition and Exhibition 2014 (the “Competition”) is the Ipswich City Council.
    Entry to the competition is open to all except for members of the ‘Enviroplan Photographic Competition Committee’ and the judging panel. An entrant must be an individual and not a company or organisation. Entrants under 18 years of age must have the consent of their parent or guardian to enter.
    Each entry must be entered in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. The Promoter may in its discretion refuse to award any prize to any entrant who fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
    The Competition opens at 8.30 am Thursday, 5 June 2014 and closes at 4.30 pm Monday, 29 September 2014 ("Competition Period"). Any entry received after the expiry of the Competition Period will be deemed invalid. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost, delayed or misdirected entries.
    Information on how to enter the competition and prizes form part of these entry terms.
    The prizes will be:
        Each Adult Category winner will receive $200 prize money.
        Each Secondary Student Category winner will receive $100 prize money.
        The Overall Competition Adult winner will receive $750 prize money.
        The Overall Competition Secondary Student winner will receive $500 prize money.
        The Viewer’s Choice Adult winner will receive $350 prize money.
        The Viewer’s Choice Student winner will receive $250 prize money.
        Primary School Prize - prize to the value of $100.
    Entries will not be returned by the Promoter.
    An official entry form must be completed by each entrant. The signed entry form is evidence of the entrant’s consent to these Terms and Conditions.
    A maximum of three (3) images per category may be submitted by any entrant. Images may only be entered once. The same image cannot be entered in more than one category.
    Images entered in previous Enviroplan competitions will not be accepted.
    There is no time limit as to when the image was taken.
    All images must be captured within the Ipswich City Council Local Government Area boundaries.
    Entries must not contain any material that is defamatory, discriminating, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening or is otherwise unlawful. Any entry that at the discretion of the Promoter, is deemed to be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening, will immediately be disqualified from entering the Competition. The promoter’s decision in relation to any aspect of the Competition is final. No correspondence and/or discussion will be entered into.
    All entries must be supplied as unmounted 10 cm x 15 cm (postcard size) prints on photo quality paper and on CD, saved at a minimum 300 DPI.
        All prints must have clearly labelled details of the following:

            Competitor’s name
            Contact number
            Entry category
            Location where the image was captured

These details must be clearly written on the supplied labels and secured to the back of the print.

        All CDs must be marked with the following:

            Competitor’s name
            Contact number

    Minor image adjustments (in Photoshop, Lightroom or similar program) are allowed. This includes cropping, sharpening, changes in exposure, colour, contrast etc and dust or blemish removal. No HDR (High Dynamic Range), multiple exposures, compositing or major cloning is allowed. If minor image adjustments are in dispute, the decision of the judges in relation to what constitutes an acceptable minor image adjustment is final.
    Entrants submitting an image/images to the Secondary Student categories of the Competition must, at the time of entry, be a student at Secondary School. Entrants submitting an image/images to the Primary Student categories of the Competition must, at the time of entry, be a student at Primary School.
    An adult winner and runner-up, and a secondary student winner and runner-up, will be chosen for each of the categories. An overall winner and a runner-up will be chosen in the Primary Student category.
    Entries will be assessed by a panel of judges selected by the Promoter. The decisions of the judging panel are final and no correspondence and/or communication of any kind in relation to the panels’ decisions will be entered into. The judging panel is under no obligation to award a prize in any category.
    Entrants warrant in submitting an image, that it is their original work and does not violate or infringe (or reasonably be expected to violate or infringe) upon the legal rights of any other person, including material which is protected by copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights.
    Entrants agree that by entering the Competition they authorise the promoter to use, reproduce and or exhibit images entered in the Competition for the purpose of advertising and promoting the Competition. The images may be exhibited or reproduced in any medium. The Promoter is not required to pay a fee to use, reproduce or exhibit any images entered in the Competition.

    By submitting your photograph for entry, you the Entrant, warrants that:

        Prior to submitting the photograph into the competition you have gained consent of all identifiable persons featured in the photograph.
        Photographs must be previously unpublished and the Entrant warrants that all photographs entered into the competition; are their own work.

    This entry form does not constitute permission to enter private property. Such permission must be obtained from the landholder.
    Entrants must not engage in any unlawful or improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the Competition.
    By entering the Competition each entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against all loss, damage, costs (including legal costs) or liability whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the entrant’s breach of these Terms and Conditions.
    The entrant (or where the entrant is a minor, then the parent or guardian) shall indemnify and release the Promoter in respect of any judgement, action, or liability for all loss, damage or injury to persons or property arising from the negligence of the entrant (or where the entrant is a minor, then the parent or guardian); or against any breach by the entrant of any third party intellectual property rights and against any act or omission by the entrant (or where the entrant is a minor, then the parent or guardian) commenced by a third party against the Promoter.
    The signed entry form is evidence of the entrant’s acceptance to these terms and conditions.

Ipswich City Council is collecting your personal information so that we can assess your Entry in the Ipswich Enviroplan Photograph Competition and Exhibition 2014. We will not disclose your personal information outside of Council unless we are required by law or you have given your consent. However, to enable the Council to administer, judge and promote the Competition your personal information may be recorded and/or disclosed; for instance your name may be disclosed in a publication or at an event for the purpose of giving notice of Competition winners/entrants.  By completing and signing this form and returning it to Council, we will consider that you have given us your consent to manage your personal information in the manner described in Council’s Privacy Statement, Personal Information Digest and this collection notice.
